Good 42º raining morning. Looks like the wet stuff through the weekend...
In the Roman calendar, March 15 was known as the Ides of March. The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held.
Today is my baby girl's birthday. Maggie "The Poopsie Do" is 13 years old. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAGGS!!!
She is such a sweetie!

Two neat things happened yesterday... first one was .. we were given a bottle of Dom Perignon by the real estate gal who sold our Temple City house for us in 1998. It went into the fridge and has been there for 14 years! I finally decided to open it, knowing full well I'd probably dump it down the drain. OMG. It was GOOD still!!!!
One glass was good and then I put it back into the fridge. Years and years ago Jerry and I were having champagne in a restaurant somewhere and the waiter, a sweet old guy, gave us a capper for the bottle and said it would hold in the bubbly and keep it good. I dug it out of a drawer and capped the bottle...
It's older than the champagne! LOL. So, we'll see today if it worked!
Then......................... I reconnected with two friends, Berta Sommer and Janet Vargo, whom I haven't seen in over 40 years! We used to hang out, party, and be good friends. They even flew to SF to meet me after I dropped George (ex) off at McClellan Air Force Base near Sacramento when he went overseas. Then they drove back to So Cal with me and Kristen. Kris was about 3 months old and Berta and Jan were a big help on the trip. Anyway..................... I found Janet's son, Richie, on FB and he hooked me up with his mom and Janet knew Berta (new last name) was also on FB. YEAH!~ I can't wait for emails and phone conversations now. Interesting, my son Brian is a State Farm Agent in Oregon and Jan's son Richard is a Nationwide agent in Oregon near Portland!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.

March 15th
Peanuts are the lovable legume that are the taste of ball games and circuses throughout North America. Salted, roasted peanuts in a bag, boiled green peanuts, even fried peanuts--all make for great snacking and a plethora of peanut lovers. For more nutritious eating, peanuts are also common in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Sue,
How great to re connect with long time friends!
Now, tellus, why did you keep that great champagne for all these years and not drink it? Why now? Why did you open it now? Celebrating Maggie's birthday? I had a bottle of that once (Daryl gave it to me because someone gave it to him while working at an event). We were going out with Vickie and Rick for their anniversary so I took it to their house to open before the other couples arrived. Vickie was running late so she and I sat in her bathroom while she curled her hair and drank Don P. Jeeeze! It was yummy but then I can't tell the difference in champagnes.
I do love that sign about speaking English and I totally agree!!!

Well, T, I don't know about the champagne.. Jerry never liked it so I guess I just never thought about opening it. Then it hit me it was still there. Might as well see if it was good. Surprised the heqq out of me!
