Gloom ~ Hummus Recipes ~ Stir Fry Noodles/Albacore ~ Goof Off Day

Good 35º rained ALL day and ALL night now rain stopped for a few morning. Groan.................. No radar at present... we got another 3/4".

Maggie was staying dry... while the turkeys were showing off in the rain..

This is very cool......

Today is my great neighbor's birthday... Cindy Mize. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!

Historically this date...
1621 – The Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony sign a peace treaty with Massasoit of the Wampanoags.

1622Jamestown massacre: Algonquian Indians kill 347 English settlers around Jamestown, Virginia, a third of the colony's population.
.... Good grief, sounds like they should have had a treaty~

1765 – The British Parliament passes the Stamp Act that introduces a tax to be levied directly on its American colonies.
... THIS MEANS WAR!

1984 – Teachers at the McMartin preschool in Manhattan Beach, California are charged with satanic ritual abuse of the children in the school. The charges are later dropped as completely unfounded.
....The trial lasted seven years and cost $15 million, the longest and most expensive criminal case in the history of the United States legal system, and ultimately resulted in no convictions. Can you believe it... Chuck Norris, the actor, was identified by one child as being one of the abusers!

1997Tara Lipinski, age 14 years and 10 months, becomes the youngest champion women's World Figure Skating Champion.

And births this date include....
1908 – Louis L'Amour, American author (d. 1988)
Jerry's favorite author!

1912 – Karl Malden, American actor (d. 2009)

1920 – James Brown, American actor (d. 1992)

Awww.... I loved Rin Tin Tin and even have an autographed picture from Mr. Brown!

.... and look at this, the little boy in Rin Tin Tin was Lee Aaker who played Rusty... OMG
He went from 'so cute' to 'so weird'!

1923Marcel Marceau, French mime artist (d. 2007)

1933 – May Britt, Swedish actress

She met Sammy Davis, Jr. in 1959. They began dating, and, after a brief engagement, were married on November 13, 1960. Their wedding caused controversy. A rumor or myth, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy told Frank Sinatra to tell Davis not to marry May until after the 1960 Presidential Election. At that time interracial marriage was forbidden by law in 31 U.S. states, and only in 1967 were those laws (by then down to 17 states) ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.
She must have 'retired' because there are no recent photos of her anywhere!

1976 – Reese Witherspoon, American actress

Hummus........................... (To make hummus with canned garbanzo beans, use one 16 oz can)

I soaked 1 cup of dried garbanzo beans overnight, boiled them for an hour, drained and let them cool.

I ended up with about 3 full cups of garbanzos. For the first batch of hummus...

I put in the food processor, 1 ¾ cups of beans, ¼ cup lemon juice, large pinch of sea salt, 2 T. olive oil, 2 t. garlic powder (calls for 1 fresh clove) ¼ cup tahini (tastes like peanut butter) and 2 T of the sweet hot chili sauce I made (didn't have Siracha) and ran until smooth.

Second batch....

I added 1 T. sesame oil and about ¼ cup of homemade pesto along with 1 ¾ cups beans, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, tahini, and garlic.

What a hoot. It's sooooooo good too! Next time may be sun-dried tomatoes, Italian parsley and green onions, or black and green olives, sweet peppers, cucumber. Who knows what will strike my fancy!

Now, if you don't eat hummus, you might try it. Costco has Sabra brand and it's pretty good. Use if in place of mayo on a sandwich to cut calories. Use as a dip for pita crackers, fresh veggies, and I like dipping my artichoke leaves in it. Thanks for Beth at BudgetBytes.blogspot for the inspiration!

Dinner: Yakisoba noodles, mushrooms, broccoli, sweet peppers, and a jar of Patty's albacore.

Stirfry veggies with olive oil, add albacore, micro noodles 1 minute, add broken up noodles to pan, add seasoning packet and 3/4 cup water. Stir and heat. I served mine with tomatoes on the side. GOOD!!!!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.

Once I tasted fresh garbanzos- so hard to use canned. What a difference freshness makes!

Gotta love a man who can throw a pitch when it counts.

Oh my goodness Sue!

Thanks so much for that video about the first pitches! I have posted it on my FB page giving you the credit for sending! I LOVED the contrast of the sounds of the crowd! Now hopefully those sounds will reflect in the November election, right?

Well now that you have made me so hungry (even tho I am not a fan of hummas) I must go fix some eggs and toast! Your dinner did it!! Don't normally eat this early but after seeing those photos, can't wait! :):)
