Mo Rain! ~ Thursday Football ~ Alice ~ Olga & Jimmy ~ TBT ~ GP Errands/Train ~ Deer Triplets ~ Bruiser ~ EASY Apple Dumplings

Good 53º raining morning. Rain started again, but don't know when. Was sleeping too hard~! Not raining hard, just drizzling. Nice. According to weather service, should be "quite a bit warmer" today. Maybe 71º-ish. Right now heavy heavy low clouds. Can't see my mountain!

Football tonight:

Another Egg-Tastic breakfast... two eggs mixed with about 1T mayo, some chives, on a rice cake with creamy garlic sauce~! OMGOOOD
BTW, if you get and Egg-Tastic and it doesn't come with a recipe page, let me know and I will email or mail one to you. Sally said the ones she and Jim bought didn't have recipes.

Today is a special birthday.. Alice Reardon, wife of the infamous Pat Reardon (LASD ret). HEY ALICE, way up there in Idaho... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you have a GREAT day!

Today is also a special anniversary... Jim (LASD Sgt) and Olga Duran celebrating 30 years! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY kids!

Throw Back Thursday... Sr. Prom.. 1963 with Bruce Baumgartner. He went to  San Gabriel High School, I went to Wilson High. Wonder what happened to that handsome boy!

Yesterday I made a run into Grants Pass. Rain started coming down again. YES! Stopped to get Tucker a gift for his birthday (will be Sunday) and then to Safeway for groceries. On the way from there I had to stop for a train. Hadn't seen one of these in a long while nor have I had to stop at a crossing....

                                                           The engineer waved to me!

Home and put away all my stuff. By then it was 2:30 and still only 58º. Nice. Wore a sweatshirt! From now on it will supposedly warm up. I was looking outside and saw a doe jump the fence and start chowing down on the grape leaves. Lo and behold, over on the other side of the yard were the triplet fawns. I was so worried since I hadn't seen them in a couple weeks! They look great!

Then a bit later they were all down by the barn..

And look! A hummingbird sitting in mid air!

Earlier in the morning the Bruise went off on a hunt. First in the upper pasture...

....then closer to the house....

Lunch was a dish of melons/strawberries/pineapple from Safeway. Dinner was reruns of the Buffalo Chicken Soup. Watched a Hallmark movie, Loves Comes Softly.
I like Katherine Heigl. In this film there is a little girl whose mother had passed away. Heigl's husband had also died, so the relationship is started with the girl's father, Dale Midkiff. The young girl is played by Skye McCole Bartusiak. This actress was born in 1992 and sadly died from a drug at age 21.

AND no, I didn't watch the debate. I HATE politics! I don't like debates. Sorry, but that's me. I will vote, but we don't have a choice at the moment... too many in the Republican race, and the Dems certainly haven't stepped up with anyone who could possibly help our country, other than flushing it down the toilet that OVamit has put us in! Ok, off the

All I know. Happy TBT. Nuff said. Ciao.

Apple Dumpling Day

EUNICE'S EASY APPLE DUMPLINGS
4 large apples, peeled, cored and quartered
2 cans Crescent Rolls
1 cup Orange juice
1 cup sugar
1 to 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 sticks butter

DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN: 1. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
2. Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll so it is completely or mostly encased in the dough. Arrange evenly in prepared dish.
3. In a small saucepan over medium heat - combine orange juice, sugar, cinnamon and butter. Cook stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Pour over dumplings.
4. Set over to 350°F and bake dumplings 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with the sauce (can add whipped topping)

This recipe is amazing, yet so simple. If you have any leftovers, put dumplings into a bowl - spoon a little sauce over - and microwave for about 25 seconds. This will definitely become a family favorite.
This serves 16: Recipe may be halved.

I got a call from the Harpers yesterday. They had tried their Egg-Tastic ...
and LOVED it! They are even buying more for gifts! See, I told you.
Yesterday with my sink stopped up since the night before I waited for Mike of Artoff Plumbing to come over and "un stop" it. This old house and it's plumbing suck!
(Mike and his dad Marty... he was a friend of Jerrys!)
They are local here in Rogue River, but cover Grants Pass and Medford...
And Mike recently with his boys fishing....
Anyway, Mike was here and fixed the plumbing problem, fitting me in on his way to his last job. Thanks Mike!!!!
Dude was at the door and wanted in.. I let him in and noticed this doe eating grape leaves. Was surprised she came into the yard with Dude out there. She looked my way and then continued eating...

Speaking of animals, this video is hilarious. I posted it about 3 years ago on my blog...
I got this video from David Aguilar (Wilson W'59) who has since passed away ... Watch not only the screaming sheep but all the other animals ... I'm not fond of Conan O'Brian but this is great!
                                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BaE4JI05dQ
 VFW with the right idea!!!

Then, for dinner I decided on soup, since it was so nice and cool.... by noon still only 59º!
Soup:
Crock*Pot, 2 cans cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of potato soup, about 5 cups shredded chicken, 1 cup of sour cream, 2 cups chicken stock, and 1/2 cup Franks Buffalo Hot Wing Sauce - add less depending on your like for 'hot', (my fav, mix bottle of sauce with 1 cube melted butter and it makes the BEST Buffalo wings ever!) I also added half a cube of butter, cut up. Just because! An hour before the end of cooking I added in some broccoli and carrot slices (from a bag of broccoli stir-fry).
Into Crock*Pot on Low for 5 hours. Garnish with your favs.... shredded cheese, chopped green onions, parsley, etc. and maybe a drizzle of the Frank's sauce. So, here's the finished soup. OMGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! Wow, just like eating liquid Buffalo Wings! I topped mine with some re-constituted dehydrated chives..

Hint: cook boneless skinless chicken thighs, I get a large tray of them,
in the Crock*Pot for 8 hours covered with low sodium chicken stock. Use and or freeze. Can make tacos, enchiladas, shred on salad, mix shredded and mixed with fav mayonnaise and make a perfect sandwich, or put in soup. So many things to do with them. Good and easy. Chicken thighs are better than chicken breasts because they are more moist and easier to handle.
TV, chair, wine...and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........
All I know. Happy Hump Day. Nuff said. Ciao.

National Guacamolé Day

I had some (Costco deli guacamolé) on a rice cake first thing this morning!
