EVERYONE!
Dear Lord, I am thankful for my awesome family, each one of them is so
special. I am thankful for my friends, who keep my spirits up. I am thankful
for the men and women serving in our military, serving as fire fighters, and law
enforcement everywhere. They keep us safe. And also thank you God for my animals
who love unconditionally and make me smile. God Bless all of you who read my
daily ramblings and drivel. You too, make me smile!
Ok, enough mush....
Went to the ER yesterday re my finger and the "spider bite" which turns out
to not be a spider bite after all.

The doc said something was under my skin. Since it happened when I picked
up a log to put in the fire, it could be a splinter of wood or a pine needle...
something like that. He "could cut it open and dig around" or he could give me
antibiotics and pain pills ("because it will get WORSE before it's BETTER!") He
wants me to soak it in hot water often so it will "puss up and pop out". UGH. I
asked him if I could
"cook Thanksgiving dinner" (just as a joke since Jen's mom is cooking) and
he said he'd give me "a note"~!!! He was funny after I warmed him up! Took off
Jerry's and my wedding rings from that hand as he said it will swell a lot more.
So far so good. The antibiotics are working.
What bugged me was as I was in the ER waiting room a man came in and was in
distress. Said he had previously had two heart attacks. A young man, heard his
birth date was 1966. He was having a hard time breathing and had a pain, first
in the middle of his back and then in his chest. Then a girl came in, obviously
in pain, said she thought her arm was broken. Both of these people were given
wheelchairs, but had to wait in the waiting room. Then another women came
in stating she was having a heart attack. I can't believe they had to WAIT! Then
they went to triage, then back to the waiting room to wait for a doctor. OMG.
Don't have a broken arm or heart attack in Grants Pass.... you will have to wait
in the waiting room!!!!! I was seen before they were!
The drive home was a lovely break from the rain...
On this date in 1975, Steve (ret. LASD) and Barbara Voors were united in
holy wedlock. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS! Your wedding was beautiful. Your girls,
Alison Vanessa and Suzanne, are all beauties, as well as your baby
granddaughter. It is a privilege to be your friend! (Steve and Jerry were radio
car partners at Temple) Love you guys. xo
A friend asked me about cooking prime rib..... here is a foolproof way, comes
out perfect every time...
Make a rub of salt and pepper and garlic and/or onion powder and or any
other type of herb you like and you can even mix it with butter or olive oil
.... rub onto roast. Put in roasting pan, turn oven to 550º. When oven is ready
put in the roast and cook it 5 minutes for every pound for rare, 6 minutes per
pound for medium. Then turn off the oven and DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR 2
HOURS! Done to perfection.
Here is a formula: For me it was 3.75 lbs x 5 min. = 18.75 minutes or 19
minutes
To make a very quick natural sauce; pour off the excess fat, and place the
roasting pan over high heat. Add a few cups of water or beef broth and bring to
a boil while scraping all the caramelized beef drippings from the bottom of the
pan with a wooden spoon or whisk.
Let this boil and reduce slightly while you slice the meat. Pour into a serving bowl, season with salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste, and serve along side the prime rib.
