Mo' Rain ~ Jeff Heaton ~ 20 Most Dangerous Cities ~ Bruiser ~ No Soliciting ~ Ann & Gabe ~ Mike ~ Monday Football ~ Birds ~ Buck ~ Sandwich History

Good 43º cloudy morning.
Yesterday with not even a "chance" of rain predicted... at 12:30 it was pouring!

I sent the above photos to KOBI 5 News for the weather department and joked they said "no rain" for the next week... I got a personal email from Weatherman Jeff Heaton, saying he had forecast the rain in the 7am news. Sorry Jeff, I didn't see the early news, only the night before. Thanks for the note though!! All the people on the Ch 5 News are my favs!!! And Jeff, I promise I will watch your early news from now on!
I just loved the look of the clouds... By afternoon we warmed up to 62º and we had received another 1/4" of that precious wet stuff!

And then 1/2 an hour later there was some blue sky!

Thanks George Bachmeier (LASD ret) for these. Whodda thought on some of them!

Yesterday, Monday, pay bills day. GROAN...
Goofy Bruise decided to nap on top of the printer... there was a magazine on the other one and he put his head on it and slept like a rock!
Then he got a little more comfortable....

This was sent by Pat Kelly, Greece traveling pal... I changed it to fit me! (It did say "beer")

Special friends, Ann and Gabe Ramirez (LASD both ret) are celebrating their 25th anniversary today. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY kids!! You both look GREAT!

And email pal, Mike Cipolla is celebrating his birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!!!! (with his bride, Nan)

I generally buy Real Lemon juice at Costco, but was running low so I got some of the First Street lemon juice at Safeway. DON'T buy it. It is TERRIBLE and even had brown sediment. UGH. I poured it down the drain.

Later it was martini time again ..... football.....

Lots going on in the football world.... Titans have fired their head coach and Kaepernick, SF 49ers quarterback, has been benched... maybe permanently!
Dinner was some salmon (I think it came from Patty & Cliff.....found it in the freezer) and an avocado my sister Betty sent me, and some stir fried/steamed veggies...

Out on the porch the LBBs (little brown birdies) were preparing their 'house' for winter....

And Mr. Buck was eating leaves off the apple tree.....

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

November 3rd
National Sandwich Day

The club sandwich was invented in London, but classic American sandwiches include cream cheese (cream cheese was invented in Philadelphia), the cheese steak, the hamburger, the peanut butter (an American invention: PB & jelly) sandwich, sloppy joe, and the American-born mega sandwich... the submarine aka hoagie, grinder, etc. The sandwich was first popularized in Europe, it is America that has taken it to heart embracing it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and creating as many types of sandwiches as there are ingredients.

Rain ~ Turkey Babies ~ Maple Tree ~ Bruiser ~ Sunday Football Scores ~ Tigers & Pumpkins ~ Fire/Bruise/Dude/Martini ~ Deviled Eggs

Good 48º drizzling morning.
Yesterday only warmed to a high of 59º  ... and stayed overcast
until the clouds came down on the mountain....

Then about 3pm it started raining! OMG. It was "a chance"... LOL. Good chance!! That didn't last long, but by late evening it started again and on and off all night. So far another 1/4" has fallen.

My morning coffee this time of year..

Outside while Dude runs to the trees.... a couple momma turkeys and a Jake and 3 babies were out there... surprised me, the were not scared!

My maple tree in the back... so pretty and brilliant!

After Dude is "finished" with his morning duty he comes back in. Then I make a cup of coffee and work on the next day's blog and read my email. Lots of times it is impossible to write as the Bruise makes himself totally comfortable in the middle of everything!

Breakfast... cottage cheese topped with shredded chicken, drops of sriracha mayo and a couple spider deviled eggs.. and the rest of the olives... YUMMMMMY!

Looks like the Kansas Royals have beat the NY Mets out of the World Series.

Yesterday's football scores...

And tonight, Monday Night Football:

Great Cats of the World Park in Cave Junction posted these pictures. In the first one are the white and yellow tiger kittens I got to hold on my birthday!!

They sure seem to love pumpkins!!!

Later I ran "5 Miles" down to the trash can and put it up on the road. Stopped at PJ and Dave's. Had some floor mats that are padded. Dave could use them by his workbench in his shop. He was happy. Dude, er 5 Miles, was happy to pee on every bush on their property!

Afternoon... chair, football, martini ... ahhhhh..... We also had a fire in the wood stove..
Bruiser got snuggy in my slippers... and Dude stretched out..

Made the martini with pickled asparagus. Mmmmmmm

November 2nd
National Deviled Egg Day
(Shoot, I made those spider deviled eggs two days too soon!)

Don't limit yourself... add new things to the deviled eggs... I like pesto in some, diced bacon and diced tomatoes, ranch dressing, smoked salmon, guacamole instead of mayo, blue cheese & buffalo wing sauce....... Get creative!
