Frozen (again) ~ Sun Yesterday ~ Live Worldwide Cams ~ Olivia Jon & BFF ~ Dress Up Your Pet Day

Good 28ยบ frozen foggy morning.

We DID get sun yesterday.
It was AWESOME!
Met this sign as I was leaving my driveway...

County crews were putting down gravel along the edge of the road.
I was in awe of the contrails against the cloudless blue sky!

Coming down into Medford and the view of Mr. McLaughlin was beautiful....
Went Costco (spent too much $) ..
. Cash and Carry (for peanut butter sugar free syrup for my coffee!) ...
and my doc's. Had to get a prescription from a "compounding" pharmacy and didn't get home until almost 6pm! Long day.
I received the following from my email pal Vivia. "Hey folks, I just found THE website for everyone. It's www.explore.org. It has live cams all over the world and something called the Zen Den which has very short videos of animals like dolphins, gorillas, pandas, ducks, eagles, etc. It also has dogs and cat cams.  Some of the underwater cams are just like having an aquarium in your computer. So, head on over to the site and find your bliss!"
This is a great site as it's filled with vistas and animals.
Here is another one... one of my favs... http://www.earthcam.com/
Hollywood Blvd:

NY Harbor:

Red Lodge Montana:

LOL... and San Francisco Bay:

And also, one of the BEST... worldwide panoramas:
Wait for them to load fully so they aren't fuzzy....
The Taj Mahal...
They go in a complete circle and you can make them full screen. So neat!
Today Jim Jacobs (LASD SR ret) wife Olivia is celebrating a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA! Also Jon Armstrong (LASD ret) is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON! And Jeannie (Patterson...wife of infamous Homicide Det Bill) and I became friends in 2011. THANKS BFF, the friendship has been great! xo

Dress Up Your Pet Day

Dude gets that same look that Maggie used to,
 "oh noooo not this again!"

Dress Up Your Pet Day gives you the opportunity to .... you guessed it......dress up your pet!
Some pets like to get dressed up. Others, want nothing to do with it. This day is an opportunity to really dress up your pet(s). Make something for them to wear.  Or, go to a pet store and buy an outfit. It's winter, so something warm is best.
Sorry, I don't have any ideas on how to dress up goldfish.

Weather UGH ~ Turkeys ~ Ducks Game ~ Otter ~ Peach Melba

Good 45ยบ cloudy drizzly morning. No sun yesterday either... think that might be why my gate won't work again. The gate battery is on a solar charger that is fueled by the SUN!

With all this gloom and drizzle the turkeys spent the whole day out sitting in the pasture!

Yesterday everyone was excited about the Oregon Ducks

and Ohio Buckeyes game. I was ready too...

Sadly the Ducks lost. Heartbreaking for many...
Ducks 20  Ohio 42

Speaking of football.... can you believe the Buffalo Bills have picked Rex Ryan to be their coach. What a total ASS he is! Getting rid of him was the best thing the Jets could have done, but what is Buttalo thinking??????????????

National Peach Melba Day
(Whaaaa... in the middle of the winter???)

Peach Melba (its original title was in French, Pรชche Melba) was created in the summer of 1892 at the Savoy Hotel, London by the the great French chef Auguste Escoffier. It honored the renowned Australian soprano, Dame Nellie Melba (Escoffier also created Melba toast for her).
The dish combined two summer fruits, peaches and raspberries, with vanilla ice cream. Escoffier poached the peach and topped it with ice cream and raspberry purรฉe. Essentially, it’s an ice cream sundae with poached peaches.
But the original Pรชche Melba was a bit more elaborate. At the time, Dame Nellie was performing in Wagner’s opera, Lohengrin, at Covent Garden. She was the guest of honor at a dinner party hosted by the Duke of Orlรฉans at the Savoy.
For the party, Escoffier displayed the dessert in a swan ice sculpture. In the opera, the knight Lohengrin arrives and departs in a boat pulled by swans. Here, the ice swan held a bed of vanilla ice cream topped with peaches and spun sugar.
Needless to say, the dessert was the talk of the town—or at least, that portion of town interested in opera and Escoffier.
In 1900, for the opening of the Carlton Hotel in London, Escoffier created an easier version of the dessert. He ditched the ice swan and topped the peaches with raspberry purรฉe.
