Storm ~ Meatloaf ~ Mushrooms ~ Jan Lacy ~ Geese

Good 45º very foggy morning. Looks like that predicted storm is a comin'...

This storm is supposed to hit Northern California HARD!

Happy Hump Day

Decided to clean out more from the freezer... found some ground round and some ground lamb. Decided to make a meatloaf....

2 eggs, Panko, lots of garlic salt, chopped celery and shallot, tossed in some leftover peas and roasted carrots, cheese, and topped with green enchilada sauce.

Made a SUPER SANDWICH!

Last year this date we had a lot of snow... it was 13º and I had a broken water pipe! UGH. Got through it ... Collecting water from neighbors and showering at PJ and Dave's. Here's a picture taken then of Tucker and Sami with their State Farm Snowman. (Gotta get that ad in Brian!!!)
Yesterday:
And boy do I have a lot of 'strange' mushrooms in my yard:

I did some research and could only come up with that they are "Oregon Lawn Mushrooms"... Oh well, we're not eating them, but they are interesting looking.

I visited with Jan Lacy at the Clayfolk show last month. She does sculpture and she's in the process of making a dog head of Dude for me. She shows her art at the Grants Pass Art Museum, among others. Here is her work and her site...

Maybe a sculpture of Maggie is next!

Heard a big commotion of geese flying over... barely got their picture...

I want one of those camera lens like the photographers at football games use... only they are about $6,000-11,000 !!! Will pass on that.

Football ~ Mini Pumpkins ~ Hello Christmas

Good 45º too dark to see if it's cloudy yet morning. (Probably is!)

Last night's football...

So............... time to take down the Fall decorations and put up some Christmas ones. My Fall decorations consisted of a wreath on the door and mini pumpkins around in several places. First, deal with the mini pumpkins... Let's roast them.. for mini treats.

Cutting the top off the first one didn't go so well. Not a big enough cut...  The next one was deeper. I scraped out the seeds with a melon-baller. Worked great.

Only three ingredients go into each pumpkin... 1 t. brown sugar, 1/2 t. butter, and a pinch of ground cinnamon.

Put the sugar/butter/cinnamon in each and put top on. Then put water in the pan, about 1/2 way up the pumpkins.

350º for 1 hour.

REALLY tasty~!!!!!!

I washed the little seeds really well and dried with a towel, pulling off the remains of the scrapings. Then I tossed them in a bowl with olive oil and sea salt. Baked at 300º on a cookie sheet for 40 minutes, shaking and scraping the pan at the end of 20 minutes. YUMMY!!!! They didn't last long.. what with football and wine...

My Christmas decorations are minimal. No tree... a wreath on the front door, a snow sign on a birdhouse, a wreath with lights in the house, and a Teddy Bear in a Christmas cup that looks exactly like the one my Aunt Agnes gave me when I was born!

Christmas Card Day
(last years.....)

I did get my first Christmas Card already!! (Thanks Mo!)

Christmas Card Day, honors Sir Henry Cole (1818 - 1874) of England. Cole created the first commercial Christmas Card in 1843.
Just a few decades ago, sending Christmas cards through the mail was a holiday "must". Sending cards through the mail continues to be very popular. The cost and time for writing and sending cards has caused many people to stop sending them. Free Ecards have surged in popularity. Animated Christmas and seasonal Ecards have made sending and receiving them a lot of fun.
Today is  a good day to send out your Christmas cards and holiday greetings.  If you have yet to do so, use today to get a start.
