Football ~ Daisy ~ Fruit Fly Remedy ~ Smilebox ~ Smile!

Good 42º morning.

10-7 .... "out of service"

*Correction* Yesterday I spelled Bill Riordan's name wrong, corrected it, but wanted to apologize to Bill for that error. Brain fart!!! Also, yesterday was Bill's birthday. Happy Birthday a day late Bill!! Bill worked Temple Station with Jerry.

Something to make you say, "Oh SH*T!"

I looked at my mountain yesterday and saw an orange spot... ah ha.... a tree that turned colors!

...and while I was taking pictures, Dude was enjoying the cool grass...
He is just the SWEETEST most loving dog! Happy happy happy. Me too, that I have him! ♥

Football yesterday was good for some and lousy for others...

My friend Patty shared this good info:

How to get rid of fruit flies!
Instructions
  1. Clean out a glass jar or bottle.
  2. Place bait inside the jar. You can use a piece of fruit, vegetable, or red wine inside the jar. You can use whatever you have on hand or what originally attracted the bugs in the first place. All three of these products are great for attracting fruit flies.
  3. Cover the jar with plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band. Make sure that the top of the jar is completely covered and doesn't have any escape routes for the fruit flies.
  4. Poke small holes into the plastic wrap. Make sure to keep the holes small so that the fruit flies can crawl in but can't fly out. A straight pin or paper clip is perfect for this.
  5. Leave the newly made trap out where the fruit flies will be able to find it. Since fruit flies typically fly rather than crawl out of spaces they will be able to get into the trap but won't be able to get out.
  6. Clean out the jar whenever you have trapped the fruit flies. Place new bait in the jar, recover the jar with new plastic wrap and the rubber band and keep trapping them. You will never have to worry about fruit flies again.    or watch the following video:

World Smile Day

World Smile Day celebrates the ever popular yellow smiley. It also offers us an opportunity to do an act of kindness. According to the World Smile Day website, a proclamation of this day was made by the U.S. Congress. Now that should put a smiley on your face.
The smiley face became so popular, that the U.S. Post Office issued a stamp with the smiley face.
The intent of World Smile Day is to do an act of kindness, or help one person to smile. Why not do both!?
The yellow smiley stands brightly smiling upon this day, offering it's stamp of approval.

WD-40 Tips ~ The Bruise & The Dude ~ Pony & Stuffed Bear ~ 1030 Casserole ~ Noodle Day

Good 37º dark, probably foggy, Sunday morning.

"10-6" ... Busy

WD-40 tips for the week:
Lubricate wheels on dishwasher rack sliding tracks

Quiet squeaky hinges on kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors

Protect sink and shower faucet heads from rust

Remove water spots on shower doors

Remove smudge marks and shine stainless steel appliances

Sooooo................. I go into the bathroom to shower and this guy follows me every time... lays on the rug next to my slippers until I get into the shower and they lays on the bathmat.
When I get out he likes to rub against my wet legs! Sheesh~!

Of course Mr. Dude has to see what is going on too....
This was the only time I thought about taking my camera into the bathroom~! LOL.

Shared by Bill Riordan (LASD ret.) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY BILL!!!

Hours after his birth, Breeze was found stumbling around by a farmer.  The newborn foal was abandoned by his mother.  That's when the farmer took him to Devon-based Mare and Foal Sanctuary where they instantly started caring for him. What happened next is both adorable and heartwarming. Staff put a 4-foot giant Teddy Bear in with Breeze.

The bear's name is Buttons and Breeze quickly warmed up to him
Without his mother, Breeze has found an adorable replacement.
The two have been inseparable and they expect Breeze to be just fine.

Thanks to the rescuers and those who cared enough to take this little cutie in. And thanks, of course, to Button.

Lunch yesterday was a "by guess and by gosh"... I put some cut up Yukon Gold potatoes in the bottom of the crockpot. Added about 1 cup of chicken stock. Topped that with some cut up smoked mozzarella/artichoke/garlic sausage (Costco) and some cream of mushroom soup and shook on some garlic seasoning. Then I added some haricots verts (green beans .. Costco) and some mushrooms. Topped that with baby spinach. Melted a cube of butter and stirred in Panko crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Put that on top. Turned on the slow cooker to LOW for 5 hours.

OMGOOD!!!!!

Barn Roof Ice ~ Alex & Jack ♥ ~ New Camera ~ Marinara/Pasta ~ Costa Concordia Rises

Good 34º foggy morning....

Good thing it's going to be nice, because today and tomorrow is "Art Along The Rogue".... street painting and music festival..
I will go and take pictures!

"10-5" ... relay

Ice on barn roof yesterday..... still too dark today to see it today...

My granddaughter, Alex, has just become the Sports Editor for Gabrielino High's school paper ... Congratulations Jelly Bean!!!!♥♥ I love and am so proud of you!!!
She was also caught on film being her mom's chauffeur!
.... and Jack is our "Little Drummer Boy" for Gabrielino's band...♥♥  Love you and so proud or you too, Doodle Bug!!!

Here is my new camera... Brian got it for me.
It feels twice as heavy as my other Canon Rebel XT... but after weighing them both the new one is only ¾ of a pound heavier. My old one is 2¾ pounds and the new one is 3½ pounds. But soooooo awesome taking pictures in low light~!

The viewing screen on the back is twice the size of my old one.

I still have a lot more to learn about it. I ordered and extra battery yesterday from Amazon. Cheaper than from Canon.

Dinner last night was quick. Had some thawed out ground beef in the fridge, added to it lots of garlic/onion/red pepper... a jar of my marinara sauce, and some baby spinach. When all done, stirred in cooked angel hair. OMGood!!!

Thanks Bri, this camera takes MUCH BETTER pictures!!!!
