Weather/Fog ~ Picture of the Day ~ Strange History ~ Breakfast Casserole ~ Dan Patz ~ National Pizza Day

Good 30º scattered clouds morning.

Yesterday we were cold but clear and sunny.....

Up the road in Grants Pass it was super foggy.....

We ended up at 70º.

Picture of the Day ... enhanced buzz 😁

Interesting history....

In ancient Egypt, servants were smeared with honey to attract flies away from the pharaoh.

Roman Catholics in Bavaria founded a secret society in 1740 called the Order of the Pug. New members had to wear dog collars and scratch at the door to get in.

Henry VIII of England had people who were called "Grooms of Stool" whose job it was to wipe his bottom. During his reign, he had four such people, all of whom were knighted.

Before Abraham Lincoln became a politician, he was a champion wrestler. With more than 300 bouts under his belt, Lincoln only lost one match in his career and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall Of Fame in 1992.

In the Victorian era, it was popular for people to photograph relatives after they had died, often placing them in lifelike poses.

In 1923, jockey Frank Hayes won a race at Belmont Park in New York despite being dead. He suffered a heart attack mid-race, but his body stayed in the saddle until his horse crossed the line for a 20-1 outsider victory.

While Pope Gregory IX was in power, he declared that cats were associated with devil worship and had them exterminated across Europe. It's believed that the disappearance of cats helped rats proliferate and spread the bubonic plague.

Whether you've got company staying over, or you just had a long night, or you just want an easy breakfast recipe the next morning. Well, this is perfect to get the day started right! This has all the goodies like eggs, ham, cheese, and some sour cream to bring it all together! And, since this recipe uses refrigerated and freezer aisle shortcuts, it couldn't be easier--or tastier! For a smaller amount, just cut the recipe in half and use a 9x9 casserole dish. Or make the whole thing, divided into 2 9x9 casseroles and freeze one for another day.

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (30-ounce) bag frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1/2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag frozen chopped broccoli florets, thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce) block cheddar cheese, shredded

  1. Preheat oven to 375º.   Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, sour cream, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add potatoes, ham, broccoli, and cheese; mix until thoroughly combined.  Pour into baking dish.
  3. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until the center is set. Cut into squares and serve piping hot.
