Interesting about Alaska....
Outsiders first discovered Alaska in 1741 when Danish explorer Vitus Jonassen Bering sighted it on a voyage from Siberia.
Russian whalers and fur traders on Kodiak Island established the first settlement in Alaska in 1784.
In 1867 United States Secretary of State William H. Seward offered Russia $7,200,000, or two cents per acre, for Alaska.
On October 18, 1867 Alaska officially became the property of the United States. Many Americans called the purchase “Seward’s Folly.”
In 1943 Japan invaded the Aleutian Islands, which started the One Thousand Mile War, the first battle fought on American soil since the Civil War.
Alaska officially became the 49th state on January 3, 1959.
Alaska’s most important revenue source is the oil and natural gas industry.
Most of America’s salmon, crab, halibut, and herring come from Alaska.
Dog mushing is the official state sport. The Alaska Legislature adopted it in 1972.
The state boasts the lowest population density in the nation.
Alaska is a geographical marvel. When a scale map of Alaska is superimposed on a map of the 48 lower states, Alaska extends from coast to coast.
The state’s coastline extends over 6,600 miles.
Alaska is the United State’s largest state and is over twice the size of Texas. Measuring from north to south the state is approximately 1,400 miles long and measuring from east to west it is 2,700 miles wide.
This is the perfect egg salad to eat as-is, to top a green salad, or to make into a sandwich. The celery and onion give it a welcome crunch, while the mustard adds just the right kick. Our Perfect Egg Salad is an "eggs-eptionally" good!

April 6 is National Tartan Day. This is an official national observation.
National Tartan Day honors all the Scottish heritage that flows through this nation. From its earliest beginnings, Americans with Scottish ancestry endeavored for that freedom as much as any American. It was in their blood.
It was 400 years before they had declared –“For we fight not for glory, nor riches, nor honours, but for freedom alone which no good man give sup except for his life.” – from the Declaration of Arbroath
It might be surprising to know that of the 13 governors in the newly established United States; nine were Scots. There are 56 signatures on the Declaration of Independence. Some scholars suggest nearly a third of those signers were of Scottish descent.
Not only can we point to the country’s founding fathers, but of the 43 Presidents who have taken office, 33 have been of Scottish descent.
Those with Tartan blood were and are independent and resourceful. They are prolific inventors and writers. They are talented musicians and artist, experienced leaders and scholars. In the United States today, over 11 million Americans claim Scottish or Scotch-Irish roots. That makes them the 8th largest ethnic group in the United States.
HISTORY
On March 20, 1998, the United States Senate passed Resolution 155 that designated April 6th of each year as National Tartan Day to recognize Scottish Americans and their achievements and contributions to the United States. On March 9, 2005, the House passed Resolution 41 and by Presidential Proclamation, it was signed by President George W. Bush on April 4, 2008.
On this day in 1320, Scot’s signed the Declaration of Arbroath, formally declaring their independence from England. For more information visit www.americanscottishfoundation.com.

As John and I are deep into binge watching "Outlander", the Scottish info and history is very interesting.
We have been to Alaska twice now and it is just fabulous. We especially loved cruising the Inside Passage and sitting out on our balcony watching the gorgeous scenery.
In our early days on the drag strip circuit with the Bowler dragsters we saw Don, the Snake many times. Those were the days! Spending every weekend following around to the different drag strips!
Copied the egg salad recipe. Sounds and looks so yummy!
