Weather ~ Picture of the Day ~ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim ~ Marion's Gourmet Tuna Casserole ~ National Cheese Doodle Day

Good 35º cloudy morning.....

Yesterday was another pretty day, a bit windy, and we topped at 72º.

Picture of the Day

Interesting ....
How the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim got their name...

Los Angeles gained a second major league team in 1961 when the Los Angeles Angels entered the American League. The nickname had been used by Los Angeles' Pacific Coast League team from 1903-1957. The team was renamed the California Angels in 1965 and became the Anaheim Angels after the Walt Disney Company took control of the team in 1997. While the team's lease with the city requires that Anaheim be a part of the team name, owner Arte Moreno changed the team's name to include Los Angeles in 2005 in hopes of tapping into the L.A. media market. The result is one of the most absurd names in all of professional sports.

Here's a recipe my sister Marion sent to me in 1999. GOOD!!! I cook like she did, I make up recipes as I go along... This she called
Marion's Gourmet Tuna Casserole

1 large can water packed tuna, drained and forked into small pieces
1 bag egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
1/2 pkg baby spinach leaves
30 small mushrooms, crispy fried in olive oil
1 can cream of mushroom soup with garlic
corn bread stuffing
cube butter

Spray cooking spray in casserole dish.
Cook and drain noodles.
Mix sour cream, tuna, fried mushrooms, and spinach
Place half the noodles in the baking dish
Spread half the tuna mixture on top
Drop by spoonfuls half of the mushroom soup
Repeat layers
Top with stuffing mix, enough to cover
Melt butter and drizzle over stuffing.
Bake 350º 35-45 minutes...until bubbly.

This could be made with canned salmon, or even canned chicken.

All I know. Nuff said. Have a good TGIF. Ciao.

National Cheese Doodle Day on March 5th marks an annual celebration where fingers turn a cheesy orange as we snack on these flavorful treats! Found all across the country, these cheddar cheese coated snacks come in puffed or crunchy, fried or baked. They also come in single-serving or jumbo-sized packaging.
The actual inventor of Cheese Doodles is under debate. Generally, the credit goes to a man named Morrie Yohai who made a variety of extruded snack foods in the 1940s for his family’s company called Old London Foods. Other sources show patents for similar products in the 1930s and still other competing accounts in Wisconsin and in New Orleans as well.
However they came to be, they are here. Their crunchy, orange deliciousness is enjoyed around the world! They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and flavors and 15 million pounds are produced annually.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Cheese doodles can be used as an ingredient in many recipes. Crush them up and use them as breading for fried fish. Top homemade mac and cheese with crushed cheese doodles for added crunchy flavor.

GOOD morning. About the 2005 renaming of The Angels- No sports team name should be a length required of a paragraph.

It took a second to get the cat joke.... then it made me smile.

I have never made the tuna casserole with spinach- what a natural! Thank you to Marion- and you.

I do like Joel Osteen. His confidence and uplifting view of life possible as a Christian is infectious. His wealth or. not to me is irrelevant.

Cheese doodles are my downfall. Why I think fried curds are less unhealthy is definitely a denial mechanism whereby I can enjoy at a restaurant and fell less guilty):-

Have a good one.
