Interesting about the International Space Station.....

The International Space Station is the single most expensive object ever built. At a cost of nearly $160 billion dollars (and rising, as new sections are added), very few things even come close. Humanity’s most expensive single object floats 248 miles above the Earth and houses an international crew of six astronauts that live and work while traveling at a speed of five miles per second, and orbiting the Earth approximately every 93 minutes. The space station is 357 feet end-to-end, and is the largest artificial satellite that has ever orbited the planet.

It is a multinational collaborative project involving five participating space agencies: NASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), ESA (Europe), and CSA (Canada). The ownership and use of the space station is established by intergovernmental treaties and agreements. The station serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which scientific research is conducted in astrobiologyastronomymeteorologyphysics, and other fields. The ISS is suited for testing the spacecraft systems and equipment required for possible future long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars.

The station is divided into two sections: the Russian Orbital Segment (ROS), operated by Russia; and the United States Orbital Segment (USOS), which is shared by many nations. Roscosmos has endorsed the continued operation of ROS through 2024, having previously proposed using elements of the segment to construct a new Russian space station called OPSEK. The first ISS component was launched in 1998, and the first long-term residents arrived on 2 November 2000. The station has since been continuously occupied for 20 years and 69 days, the longest continuous human presence in low Earth orbit, having surpassed the previous record of 9 years and 357 days held by the Mir space station. The latest major pressurised module, Leonardo, was fitted in 2011 and an experimental inflatable space habitat was added in 2016. Development and assembly of the station continues, with several major new Russian elements scheduled for launch starting in 2021. As of December 2018, the station is expected to operate until 2030.

From Mr. Food

Tex-Mex Dip is one of Mr. Food's all-time favorite crowd-pleasing dips. It's a south of the border classic packed with zesty flavors and textures that make it an all-American hit.

  • 2 (9-ounce) cans bean dip
  • 3 ripe avocados, mashed (about 1-1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 (16-ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 4 scallions (green onions), finely chopped
  • 1 medium-sized tomato, diced

  1. Spread bean dip on a large serving tray (about a 12-inch round).

  2. In a large bowl, combine avocados, mayonnaise, and lemon juice; spread over bean dip.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine sour cream and taco seasoning mix; spread over first two layers. Sprinkle with cheese then scallions then tomato. Cover loosely and refrigerate overnight to "marry" the flavors.

All I know. Nuff said. Have a good Monday. Ciao.
xo Sue Mom Bobo

The second Monday of January each year recognizes National Clean Off Your Desk Day.

This day is an opportunity to begin your new year with a clean and organized workspace.  Whether your desk is in a private or shared office, cubicle, home or a make-shift desk on the counter, having your workspace uncluttered and organized will help you work more efficiently. A clean workspace improves productivity and inspires us, too. It often gives us a sense of serenity.

HOW TO OBSERVE

While there are those who say they know where everything is, we all know a clean start helps give us a new perspective.

Tips for Getting Organized
  • Remove everything from your desk. Yes, everything.
  • Clean the surface. As you replace items, clean them with the appropriate cleaning supply. Usually, a damp cloth is sufficient, but other electrical items need specific care.
  • Get out the shredder and the garbage can. Shred, file, scan documents, business cards, recipes, photos as needed.
  • Place all documents and photos in the appropriate locations.
  • Shred and toss outdated documents, non-working pens, junk mail.

Don’t forget to replace that old calendar hanging on the wall. While you’re at it, vacuum up those dust bunnies and sanitize your keyboard. Place a fresh box of tissues on your newly cleaned desktop. You’ll be ready for new clients in no time.

NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY HISTORY

While researching the origin of this tidy day, National Day Calendar staff uncovered information leading to A.C. Viero of Clio, Michigan as the founder of this annual holiday. Now that we can see the top of our desk, we can clearly see there will be more paperwork in our future!

I don't know Sue- My day was looking pretty busy BEFORE adding Clean-off-the-desk-day. It must be common ned this time of year- we were just talking about how fast our desks clutter up.

If you haven't seen the movie Ford vs Ferrari- I heartily recommend the Shelby biopic.

Not everyone appreciates Theodore Roosevelt as I do, but those who don't certainly appreciated The Grand Canyon Monument. It should stand as a lesson that great accomplishments may emanate from controversial figures.

I ate through last week or I would make the Tex-Mex Dip tonight. Best I spend a day with blander food. But maybe not.

Blessings-
