Good 47º raining morning.
Yesterday started off as another pretty blue sky day.... and we topped at 77º.

Yesterday I got my Schwans order. Due to this quarantine for the coronavirus they have just about sold out of everything! All the meals I usually buy were sold out! :o( So, I ended up getting these:
Cashew Chicken Skillet Meal...
Mini Angus Cheeseburgers...
Cheese Chicken Broccoli and Rice Skillet Meal.....
And I got a cheesecake.... What I like about this cheesecake, it's precut into servings, so you can leave it in the freezer and just take out 1 or 2 slices and they thaw in the refrigerator in an hour or two.
I have a collection of bird houses on my porch, made by my friend Gary Atkinson, and this time of year I get a number of birds flying in and out of the houses... these little Tree Swallows are "friendly" and don't fly away when I'm out on the porch.....

Interesting about finger and toenails ....
The growing part of the nail is under the skin at the nail's proximal end under the epidermis, which is the only living part of a nail.
In mammals, the growth rate of nails is related to the length of the terminal phalanges (outermost finger bones). Thus, in humans, the nail of the index finger grows faster than that of the little finger; and fingernails grow up to four times faster than toenails.
In humans, nails grow at an average rate of 0.12 inch a month. Fingernails require three to six months to regrow completely, and toenails require twelve to eighteen months. Actual growth rate is dependent upon age, sex, season, exercise level, diet, and hereditary factors. The longest female fingernails belonged to Lee Redmond (USA), who started to grow them in 1979 and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in) as measured on the set of Lo show dei record in Madrid, Spain, on 23 February 2008. Lee lost her nails in an automobile accident in early 2009.
Shridhar Chillal (born 1937) is an Indian man who held the world record for the longest fingernails ever reached on a single hand, with a combined length of 358.1 inches. Chillal's longest single nail is his thumbnail, measuring 77.87 inches. He stopped cutting his nails in 1952.
Although proud of his record-breaking nails, Chillal has faced increasing difficulties due to the weight of his finger nails, including disfigurement of his fingers and loss of function in his left hand. Nerve damage caused from the nails' immense weight has also caused deafness in Chillal's left ear.
Chillal has appeared in films and television displaying his nails, such as Jackass 2.5.
On 11 July 2018, Chillal had his fingernails cut with a power tool at the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in New York City, where the nails will be put on display. A technician wearing protective gear cut the nails during a "nail clipping ceremony".
Contrary to popular belief, nails do not continue to grow after death; the skin dehydrates and tightens, making the nails (and hair) appear to grow.
From Mr. Food
This doubly good breakfast sandwich combines a load of favorites all in one! Imagine starting your day off with a hearty and melty Bacon and Egg Breakfast Grilled Cheese!
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk or water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 teaspoons butter at room temperature, divided
- 4 slices whole wheat or white bread
- 2 slices slices Colby-Jack cheese
- 4 slices full-cooked bacon
- In a small bowl, beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until blended.
- In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, heat 1 teaspoon butter until hot. Pour in egg mixture. As eggs begin to set, gently pull the eggs across the pan with an inverted turner, forming large, soft curds. Continue cooking -- pulling, lifting, and folding eggs -- until thickened and no visible liquid egg remains. Do NOT stir constantly. Remove from skillet.
- Spread remaining butter evenly on 1 side of each bread slice. Place 2 slices in skillet, buttered side down. Top evenly with scrambled eggs, cheese, and bacon. Cover with remaining bread, buttered side up.
- Grill sandwiches over medium heat, turning once, until bread is toasted and cheese is melted, 2 to 4 minutes.

1945 – World War II: Führerbunker: After learning that Soviet forces have taken Eberswalde without a fight, Adolf Hitler admits defeat in his underground bunker and states that suicide is his only recourse.
.......too bad he wasn't caught and put in an oven to die! JUSTICE.
2000 – In a pre-dawn raid, federal agents seize six-year-old Elián González from his relatives' home in Miami, Florida.
Commentators have suggested that the Elián González affair may have been a factor in voters' decisions in the 2000 United States presidential election, which could have affected the close outcome in Florida. Al Gore's handling of the matter may have been as great a factor as anger by the predominantly Republican Cuban community over the boy's return to Cuba. Gore initially supported Republican legislation to give the boy and his father permanent residence status, but later supported the Administration position. He was attacked by both for pandering and being inconsistent.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Who can resist a handful of sweet jelly beans on National Jelly Bean Day? Well on April 22nd each year, you really don’t have to resist at all. As a celebration, enjoying them is a must!
While candies made in a similar manner existed before the jelly bean, Boston confectioner William Schrafft made them popular during the Civil War. With their firm exterior, jelly beans were the first candies sold by the pound. Schrafft encouraged his customers to send them to Union soldiers.
In the 1930s, jelly beans became closely associated with the Easter holiday thanks to their egg-like shape. However, confectioners make jelly beans available all year long now. So, there’s no excuse not to enjoy them if you have a craving at any time of the year.
The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, enjoyed jelly beans so much that they were present at his inauguration. He started eating them when he quit smoking years before. The Herman Goelitz Candy Company supplied red, white and blue jelly beans for the 1980 event. At the time, the company didn’t produce blue jelly beans. They created a blueberry jelly bean for the first time, especially for the inauguration.

Dang! So Schawns is still sold out of so many items. I tried to order from them weeks ago and every item I ordered were sold out. I was hoping they had caught up by now.
With the shut down of the nail shops I can imagine ladies (like me) are growing some pretty long nails about now. :)
XO Trisha
Keep your clippers handy for those nails!! xo
