Out and About ~ Picture of the Day ~ Leaning Tower of Pisa ~ Seven Layers of Heaven Bars ~ Gerry & Maria ~ National Pet Day

Good 40º clear sunny morning. Yesterday we topped at 80º.

Yesterday I had to make a trip into town to the post office, vets office, and pharmacy. This quarantine stuff is scary. I wore a mask and had my sanitizer wraps with me. The vets was for heart guard meds for Dude, the pharmacy was a drive up window for prescriptions, and then the post office... OMGOSH, no line in the post office! I picked up three packages.

Picture of the Day... Police in Climax... LOL, but there happens to be at least 6 towns by that name... in Georgia, New York, Colorado, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Michigan!!! WOW!!

Interesting about the Leaning Tower of Pisa....

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a building in PisaItaly. It is a bell tower. It is famous because it is not vertical. In 1990 the tower was leaning at 5.5 degrees and increasing. After that, much restoration work has been done to stop it from falling over completely. There was scaffolding all around the tower for 20 years. On 26 April 2011, the last bit of scaffolding was removed so that the tower can be seen properly again.

The height of the tower is about 56 metres (182.7 feet) from the ground. Its weight is about 14,500 tonnes (31,967,030 pounds). It now leans at about 3.99 degrees. The tower has 294 steps.
When the second floor was built in 1178, the tower started to lean. This was because it had a small three-meter foundation in soft soil. The design of this tower was bad from the beginning. Construction was stopped for almost 100 years because the people of Pisa were often at war with GenoaLucca, and Florence.

Yesterday my neighbor Gerry was trimming trees up on our property line. He then drove his truck up there on my property to clean up all the trimmings......

He worked up there for about 4 hours putting the trimmings into his truck and taking them to his burn piles. In this picture his wife Maria is talking to him....

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

April 11 is National Pet Day.  While loving our pets is something we do every day, National Pet Day encourages us to pay special attention to pets who may not get that extra attention.  Helping out orphaned pet companions will improve their health and enhance their opportunities for adoption.
Sometimes their human companions aren’t well.  Making sure their forever furry friends are receiving the best of care will help relieve stress and worry.
National Pet Day is an excellent time to do a few checks for your pets.
  • Go through your forever family member’s toys. Throw away any items that are no longer safe.
  • Maintain your pet-friendly home. Keep cords and toxins secure from your four-legged friends. This includes phone chargers.
  • Verify when vaccinations are due and schedule an appointment to update if they are due.
  • Check collars to ensure tags are secure and numbers are current. We sometimes forget to update this information when we move or change numbers.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Take supplies to those pets in shelters.  Help a friend with pets who is recovering from an illness.  Adopt a pet.
