Interesting about Elvis Presley....
While at the top of his career and shortly after buying his mansion, Graceland, Presley got his draft notice in the mail. Although fans wrote the army in the tens of thousands, asking that he be excused from service, Presley wanted to serve. He did receive one deferment while he was finishing up King Creole. However, he was sworn into the army as a private on March 24, 1958, in Memphis.
The rock and roll singer turned out to be a great role model for young people in America. Although vaccination rates were high for younger children in the 1950s, they were low for teenagers, so Elvis supported the vaccination push by appearing on national television and getting his shot. The vaccination rates shot up to 85 percent from two percent by the time Elvis left the Army on March 2, 1960.
The King of Rock and Roll, according to his wife, was a germaphobe and went out of his way to ensure he was safe from germs wherever he went. When he dined at the homes of other people, he went so far as to bring along his own silverware. In addition, when handed a drink, he would turn it around and drink from a cup next to the handle because he thought no one else ever did that.
Presley Liked to Pretend to Be a PolicemanFamous people can sometimes get away with things that ordinary folks can’t. One of the things Presley liked to do was pretend to be a member of law enforcement. He would stick a police siren on his car and pull over drivers for speeding, after which he would lecture them on the dangers of speed and hand over an autograph. Elvis also often stopped by police stations late at night and on holidays to visit the officers who were serving the public. He also famously met with President Nixon to offer his services as an undercover FBI agent.
Elvis cars were for sale. This posted in 2016... this 1960 Cadillac “Bubble Top” Elvis Presley Tribute (Memphis) Police Car. National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day on January 3rd spotlights a favored treat during many holidays. The National Confectioners Association has even been noted to recognize the annual event.
It is almost impossible to eat just one of these chocolate covered cherry candies. The combination of two favorite flavors into one delicious treat turns into something irresistible. The candy often is made with a sweet liquid center and in some cases has a liquor filling.
Known to many as a mid-winter pick-me-up, chocolate-covered cherries, also called chocolate cordials, can be either store-bought or homemade. There are also many recipes that mimic the flavor of the long known and well-loved candy.
In the 1700s in England, cherries were enclosed in chocolate with a little kirsch (cordial) liqueur. After finding their way to the United States, Americans received them quite well, delighting in the little bit of alcoholic cordial surrounding the fruit dipped in chocolate.
Although originally made with the liqueur, cordials/chocolate covered cherries are more commonly made with a sugar syrup flavored with cherries. The pitted cherries have been cooked in sugar syrup and jarred.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Enjoy your day sharing some chocolate covered cherries with your friends and try one of the following recipes:

Thanks for the info about Elvis. I didn't know about so much of that. Interesting about the vaccinations. There are so many now who are against having their children vaccinated. How sad as those children will be vulnerable to every disease that comes along. Actually a child didn't used to be admitted to school without them.
Those mini meat loaves look and sound yummy.
XO Trisha
Yes, Elvis was an interesting guy T. People are stupid, especially protecting their children. Make the mini meat loaves and let me know. xo
