Interesting about teams with bird names...
The intersection of ornithology and professional sports is nowhere more prominent than in the National Football League. The Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Seattle Seahawks are all NFL teams named after birds. With five teams, the NFL is a bird-watcher's paradise, as no other major sport even comes close: The National Hockey League has three teams (Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Thrashers). Major League Baseball also has three teams named after birds (Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles), while the NBA has only the Atlanta Hawks.
No team has vultures, crows, ostriches, kiwis, parrots, parakeets, macaws, geese, or turkeys.
3/4 cup peanut oil
3/4 cup rice vinegar
6-10 dashes Tabasco sauce
2 T. sugar
1/2 t. ground black pepper
Mix together and set aside. (A glass jar with lid is good for this.)
2-4 pkgs slivered almonds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
Toast on cookie sheet the almonds and sesame seeds at 350º for 5-10 minutes, until golden brown. Watch carefully so they don't burn. Cool.
1 pkg Top Raman noodles, broken up small, do not cook. Add to nuts and seeds. Set aside.
Shred 1 head of cabbage. Rinse and drain well. Chop 1 bunch green onions and mix with cabbage. OR use a 16oz package of shredded cabbage salad with carrots.
Great for pot luck (double for big crowd). Transport cabbage/onion mixture in zip bag. Seeds/nuts/noodles in zip bag. Take along a large bowl and salad tongs. To serve put cabbage in bowl, add crunchy stuff, shake and add dressing. Mix and serve.
Special birthday today, Marie Maxwell, wife of my step-son Aaron. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIE! xo

National Thank You Note Day on December 26th recognized the time-honored tradition of thanking people for their gifts, hospitality and generosity. It is a day to get some note cards, paper, pen, envelopes, and stamps to write those special thank yous.
Taking the time to thank family and friends with a personalized message has special meaning. The receiver of the “thank you” will enjoy getting the card in the mail and the message you have written.
Personal messages also convey to friends and family a deeper, more intimate sentiment. These handwritten notes, however brief, carry a tactile expression of thanks that verbal communication often lacks.

Never underestimate the power of “THANK YOU!”
HOW TO OBSERVE
Writing a thank you has become a bit of lost art. We have provided a few tips to help along the way.
Begin your thank you by acknowledging the specific gift and how thoughtful it is. If the gift was delivered, then assure the sender it arrived safely and how much you enjoy it.
If the giver presented the gift personally, mention something you remember from your visit. Then thank them for the perfect gift they took the time to bring by describing it and how ideal it is for you.
Close your thank you by gushing about how kind the giver was for remembering you!
