Interesting about traffic jams.....
The world’s longest traffic jam (in terms of time taken to clear) began to form on August 13, 2010, mostly on China National Highway 110 (G110) and Beijing–Tibet expressway (G6), in Hebei and Inner Mongolia. The traffic jam was more than 60 miles and lasted for nearly two weeks. Many drivers were able to move their vehicles only 0.6 mile per day, some drivers being stuck in the traffic jam for days.
The primary cause was many heavy trucks carrying construction supplies into Beijing, ironically for road work that was intended to help ease congestion. The high volume of traffic was compressed into a reduced number of lanes.
The Bethel, New York traffic jam, August 15-18, 1969, resulted from more than 500,000 people seeking to attend the Woodstock Festival. The New York Thruway became jammed for more than 20 miles, with many motorists eventually abandoning their cars and ‘hoofing it’ to the Festival. Performers had to be flown to and from the site in helicopters to avoid the crippling congestion.....
The East/West Germany traffic jam on 12 April 1990 came after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the opportunity for people to reconnect with friends and family members (18 million cars on a roadway that otherwise averaged a half million vehicles a day).
The longest traffic jam (in terms of distance) was 109 miles long from Lyon to Paris on February 16, 1980, caused by poor weather and traffic volume as vacationers returned from their ski holidays.

Seafood and pasta... two favorites in one dish! We've added an under-the-sea twist to a simple macaroni salad recipe to create this delightful and unique dish. This Shrimp Macaroni Salad recipe is super versatile too, complementing both your average dinner and your neighborhood potluck with ease.
- 1/2 pound elbow macaroni or shells
- 8 ounces cooked shrimp, drained and coarsely chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, diced
- 1 tablespoon seafood seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- In a large pot of boiling water, prepare pasta according to package directions; drain.
- In a large bowl, toss pasta with remaining ingredients. Cover and chill before serving.

Each year on October 21st, National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day ushers in the flavors of fall. Cheesecake is one of America’s favorite desserts and by adding pumpkin, we celebrate the essential flavoring of the season.
This sweet dessert mixes fresh soft cheese, cream cheese or cottage cheese, eggs, and sugar to create a base. The crust is made from crushed graham crackers, crushed cookies, pastry or sponge cake. Pumpkin may be added to cheesecake recipes in various ways. For example, it may be swirled throughout, mixed thoroughly with all ingredients or layered. Bakers prepare cheesecakes both baked or unbaked. Some bakers flavor cheesecakes and top them with fruit, fruit sauce, chocolate or whipped cream.
An ancient form of cheesecake may have been a popular dish in ancient Greece. The earliest attested mention of cheesecake is by the Greek physician, Aegimus. He wrote a book on the art of making cheesecakes.
James Kraft developed a form of pasteurized cream cheese in 1912. In 1928, Kraft acquired the Philadelphia trademark and marketed pasteurized Philadelphia Cream Cheese. In fact, bakers us Philadelphia cream cheese more than any other to make cheesecake than any other.
