Rain/River Rise ~ Rainbow ~ Toms ~ Deer ~ Picture of the Day ~ Bald Eagles ~ Chicken Tortellini Soup ~ John Bowler ~ PIG ~ National Cinnamon Crescent Day

Good 40º cloudy (of course!) morning.

The rain has been devastating in lots of places. Here is a picture of the Rogue River in Grants Pass between Rivers Edge and the 3rd bridge, just down the hill from Lori Roe Bouquet's home....

Yesterday morning the sun came out for 5 minutes and there was this rainbow on my mountain..... I sent it to the local KOBI TV station. (they didn't use it though... ☹ )

The rest of the day stayed cool and we had sun on and off with blue sky peeking through......

The Toms were out strutting......

And a little deer was laying in the grass.....

Picture of the Day.....

Interesting about Bald Eagles....

The bald eagle is a powerful flier, and soars on thermal convection currents, a cloud of rising air in the lower altitudes of earth's atmosphere. An eagle can reach a speed of 35-43 mph when gliding and flapping and over 100 mph when diving.
The bald eagle is an opportunistic feeder which subsists mainly on fish, by swooping down and snatching the fish from the water with its talons.

It builds the largest nest of any North American bird and the largest tree nests recorded for any animal species, up to 13 feet deep, 8.2 ft wide, and 1 metric ton (1.1 short tons) in weight.
Bald eagles are not actually bald. Their name derives from an older meaning of the word, "white headed". The adult is mainly born with a white head and tail. Females are about 25% larger than males. The bald eagle is both the national bird and the national animal of the United States of America. The bald eagle appears on its seal.

In the late 20th century it was on the brink of extinction in the contiguous United States. Populations have since recovered and the species was removed from the U.S. government's list of endangered species on July 12, 1995 and transferred to the list of threatened species. It was removed from the list of endangered and threatened wildlife in the lower 48 States on June 28, 2007.

Oh, and by the way, yesterday's picture of the day was a rock formation of a pig. I LOVE pigs!! LOL, having been called one a time or two back in the day... the uniform, you know! Just so you know, PIG stands for Pride Integrity Guts!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

National Cinnamon Crescent Day is observed annually on April 10th.  Crescent roll dough filled with sugar, cinnamon and butter then rolled, shaped and baked to a golden brown deliciousness.
While you enjoy eating your crescent roll, remember that cinnamon is a good source of manganese, fiber, iron and calcium.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Mix up a batch of these Cinnamon Crescent Rolls.

Good morning!

I am so sorry for those affected by your never-ending rain.

LOVE The Indian Hills Community Center sign. That is a good-groaner.

Bald eagles are magnificent creatures. There is an Eagle preserve near Sandy Hook. The town itself he found to be the saddest place he ever worked, but his work there often had him at eye level with the eagles, which he describes as being both humbling and inspiring.

I had never realized how much Haley Joel Osment looks like a younger version of Fox news reporter Phil Keating.

Thank you for the nice wakeup today.

Thank you for the shout out for hubby John's birthday. He got home late last night from the LASD Roundup Reunion.

We have a whole collection of adorable pigs! Same reason as you. :)

The soup looks yummy!
