Groan, then the clouds moved in and covered up the sun. Dang!

Interesting about mosquitos.......

Beyond the nuisance factor, mosquitoes are carriers, or vectors, for some of humanity’s most deadly illnesses, and they are public enemy number one in the fight against global infectious disease. Mosquito-borne diseases cause millions of deaths worldwide every year with a disproportionate effect on children and the elderly in developing countries.
There are more than 3,000 species of mosquitoes, but the members of three bear primary responsibility for the spread of human diseases. Anopheles mosquitoes are the only species known to carry malaria. They also transmit filariasis (also called elephantiasis) and encephalitis. Culex mosquitoes carry encephalitis, filariasis, and the West Nile virus. And Aedes mosquitoes, of which the voracious Asian tiger is a member, carry yellow fever, dengue, and encephalitis.
Mosquitoes transmit disease in a variety of ways. In the case of malaria, parasites attach themselves to the gut of a female mosquito and enter a host as she feeds. In other cases, such as yellow fever and dengue, a virus enters the mosquito as it feeds on an infected human and is transmitted via the mosquito’s saliva to a subsequent victim.
The only silver lining to the cloud of mosquitos in your garden is that they are a reliable source of food for thousands of animals, including bats, dragonflies, birds, and frogs. In addition, humans are actually not the first choice for most mosquitos looking for a meal. They usually prefer horses, cattle, and birds.
Only the female mosquitos bite humans because they need the blood for their eggs. Human blood contains protein, and the female mosquito needs the protein to develop it's eggs. The male doesn't have the probiscus to bite you, it feeds on flower nectar.

This picture was taken in 1910 in Cananea Mexico. These are Pancho Villa's men who came to my grandparents home and told them since they weren't Mexican citizens they must leave. My Mother on the left with some kind of bandage on her head, my Uncle Lloyd in the middle, and my Aunt Agnes on the right. At the time my grandfather was a mining engineer at some mines in Mexico. They left there and moved to Bisbee AZ and he worked at the copper mine there.

Observed annually on March 9th, National Crab Meat Day (also National Crabmeat Day) is an American food holiday.  This day is for all crab meat lovers to celebrate their favorite crustacean.
Crab meat is a healthy choice until you add all that melted butter.
There are 1.5 million tons of crab consumed every year around the world.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Boil or steam some crab.  There are a variety of ways crab can be used. Or, give one of these recipes a try:

For the arc of history it demonstrates, I love the photo with your grandparents and Pancho Villa.

I like the idea of ratatouille, but too often the veggies are overcooked and the texture doesn't read as either veggie or sauce- just muddled. But the ingredient list- certainly I will try again. and again. The stand the pan is pictured in- what a glorious presentation.
