Burrrrr... ~ Sun ~ Bruiser & Mouse ~ Picture of the Day ~ The White House ~ Macaroni Cheese Pie ~ Bruiser/Dude ~ Patriots/Vikings ~ National Roof Over Your Head Day

Good 31º frozen foggy morning. Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................
Yesterday started dark and gloomy but then we got some sun! YEAH. Dude was happy.

Bruiser apparently was happy also, as he went hunting! He came back with a mouse and proceeded to eat it. UGH!!!

Interesting...

When George Washington took the oath of office in 1789, there was not yet a permanent residence for the chief executive. Although President Washington oversaw the construction of the house, he never lived in it. In 1800, President John Adams, the second President of the United States, became the first president to occupy the White House. John and Abigail Adams lived in what she called “the great castle” for only five months. Shortly after they moved in, Thomas Jefferson defeated Adams in his bid for re-election.

This is the first known photo of the White House taken in 1846...

And speaking of the White House.... this is funny...

''I do not like broccoli,'' the President said, responding to queries about a broccoli ban he had imposed aboard Air Force One and the White House. ''I haven't liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I'm President of the United States, and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli!'' The broccoli growers of California responded by sending a truckload of broccoli to the White House in protest. First Lady Barbara Bush accepted the truckload of broccoli on the White House lawn and sent it to a homeless shelter.

To read about more things "banned" from the White House:
I posted this a year ago, but thought some of you might want to see it again and try it!

Because yesterday was Jerry's birthday and he loved José Cuervo, I had a shot and toasted him....

Dinner, then chair, wine,

, and TV.

My Patriots played the Vikings yesterday. Vikings were 6-4-1 and my Pats were 8-3.
Tom Brady has quarterbacked New England to four straight wins over the Vikings. The Patriots haven't lost to them since Week 3 of 2000 during the Drew Bledsoe era. The only team with a longer active winning streak over Minnesota is the Colts (five games).
The last four quarterbacks to face the Vikings, including Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, have all failed to reach 200 passing yards. Minnesota has held the opposition under 200 passing yards in 14 games since the start of last season -- most in the NFL.

Each year on December 3rd National Roof Over Your Head Day is observed across the United States.
National Roof Over Your Head Day was created as a day to be thankful for what you have, starting with the roof over your head.  There are many things that we have that we take for granted and do not stop to appreciate how fortunate we are for having them.
All across our nation, there are many that do not have the things that necessary to everyday life. They may lack a roof over their heads, enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For those who have those bare necessities, it may be insufficient.
National Roof Over Your Head Day is about remembering to appreciate what you have.  This day follows closely after Thanksgiving, a day to be thankful.  So just like Thanksgiving, be thankful for what you do have and always remember, that it is a better feeling than worrying about what you do not have.
HOW TO OBSERVE
To celebrate National Roof Over Your Head Day you can pick a name or two off of a Christmas Giving Tree, volunteer at or make a contribution to a homeless shelter in your area and maybe someone else will be able to have a “roof over their head” tonight.

Do you think the Patriots will be going to the Super Bowl again? They are amazing!

I loved the sound of the Mac and Cheese Pie and thought I would make it but sadly I don't have any biscuit mix! :( I have biscuits but not the mix.

The Pats at the Super Bowl is a possibility. I hope so, T, as it's probably Brady's last year. Guess you will have to get some biscuit mix! xo

I am going to try to forget that macaroni and cheese pie recipe. But I may not be successful. There is nothing wrong with it. It just sounds like I might chow-down in a day.

What a nice mention of National Roof Over Your Head Day. I am thankful to have such a nice one over my head. One filled with memories and hope.

Cheers to your Jerry and my Gerry.
