Fog/Sun ~ Brian/Sami/Dash ~ Picture of the Day ~ Wolf Spider ~ Ham & Cheese Egg Casserole ~ Winter Is Coming ~ Bruiser ~ Patriots & Jets ~ National Parfait Day

Good 38º super foggy morning.

Yesterday morning the fog was a photo opportunity!

We warmed up and it was a beautiful day............

Topping at 62º.

Well, yesterday afternoon Brian and Sami came to get Dash. They all had gone to NY with the Grants Pass High Band. (Pictures later) The 200 band members and 200 parents/friends all rode charter buses to Seattle and then flew to NY. The way back home was long, and they didn't get back to Grants Pass and home until 4:30am yesterday morning. Everyone is tired, and at least they have an extra day before work and school tomorrow.

Dude and Dash were excited seeing Brian's truck coming up our road..

Dash was OVER THE TOP excited to see his dad and Sami!

Picture of the Day.....
Some amazing clouds over the Berkshire mountains ...

Interesting about Wolf Spider

The Carolina Wolf Spider was named South Carolina’s official state spider back in 2000. It is currently the only state that recognizes a state spider.
The Carolina Wolf Spider (also known as the Giant Carolina Wolf Spider) is the largest wolf spider in North America and is one of the largest species of wolf spiders found worldwide. This massive creepy creature is 3-4 inches in length and lives across the US and southern Canada.
Wolf spiders have a tendency to hunt at night and they also hunt alone. They are camouflage in color and are known for being great mothers. Another interesting fact about the wolf spider is that it ranks 3rd for best eyesight; only behind the jumping spider and the huntsman spider. A sure way of spotting a wolf spider in the dark is by focusing a flashlight at eye level of the spider; its eyes are reflective to light!

Usually served in a specially styled glass, layers of fruit, yogurt or ice cream, and nuts, chocolate or even whipped cream are the ingredients on National Parfait Day on November 25.
A French word that literally means perfect was originally used to describe a kind of frozen dessert beginning in 1894.
In the United States, parfaits are served in the traditional French style by layering parfait cream, ice cream, gelato or pudding in a clear, tall glass topped with whipped cream, fruit or liqueurs.
The Northern United States expanded on the parfait and began to use yogurt layered with nuts or granola or fresh fruits which may be, but are not limited to, strawberries, blueberries, bananas or peaches. This idea spread quickly across all parts of the country, and the yogurt parfait gained popularity as a breakfast item.
Times have changed over the years, and now parfaits are made up of almost any dessert combination that works well put into layers in a tall, clear glass, ranging from crushed Oreo cookies and cheesecake with whipped cream to angel food cake pieces and lemon cream filling with whipped cream.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Try one of the following parfait recipes:

Welcome home to your family. It doesn't matter how wonderful a trip is, the best part is arriving home.

Does anyone really enjoy pickled jalapenos when fresh chilis are so much better?

Oregon Sue said...

When cooking L, I like fresh jalapeños, but pickled are great in a dirty martini!! xo

Yes, glad your family is back safe and sound. Looking forward to hearing about it. Please write to us on the Drivel and tell us.

I love the photo of Dude and Dash watching Brian's truck approaching! What make is it? It looks exactly like John's Ram.

Oh my goodness that photo you took of the tree thru the fog is gorgeous! Fit for a frame! Pretty sure the TV station would post that one!
