Clouds/Smoke ~ Post Master General ~ Picture of the Day ~ Avocado BLT Pasta Salad ~ Just In Time Appliances ~ National Milk Chocolate Day

Good 53º scattered cloud cover along with some smoke morning.

Yesterday we were somewhat smoke free for awhile. That was nice. It did come in, but my mountain was still visible. Shortly after I took this the smoke moved in heavily! We topped at 101º.

Interesting

The office of the Postmaster General, is older than both the United States Constitution and the United States Declaration of Independence. On this day in 1775, the U.S. postal system was established by the Second Continental Congress, with Benjamin Franklin as its first postmaster general. Franklin put in place the foundation for many aspects of today’s mail system. He made numerous improvements to the mail system, including setting up new, more efficient colonial routes and cutting delivery times in half. Franklin held the job until late in 1776, when he was sent to France as a diplomat.

Yesterday morning Jeremy  from Just-In Time Appliances (Grants Pass https://www.justintimeappliance.com/ ) came and spent 2 hard working hours fixing my dishwasher.

There was a plugged up drain hose. He did a great job. I am so happy to have my dishwasher back up and running. It would have cost $300-$400 to replace it, and this repair cost was under $200!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

On average, we recognize three chocolate holidays a month.  July celebrates chocolate as often as February, and on the 28th it is the ever popular National Milk Chocolate Day!  Solid chocolate, when combined with either powdered, liquid or condensed milk, is known as milk chocolate.  The most popular of all candy bars sold contain milk chocolate.  Milk chocolate is also a popular ingredient in baking, specialty coffee drinks and hot chocolate.
From the mid-17th century, milk was sometimes added to chocolate beverages, but in 1875 Daniel Peter invented milk chocolate by mixing a powdered milk developed by Henri Nestlé with the liquor.

That salad looks GOOD.

Today is also my sister's birthday!

Jacqueline Kennedy lived a full life. I hope she knows peace in the next life. She achieved adoration in this- but peace- I believe that was more elusive.

It was six years ago today that my mommy was found unconscious and died the next day. Sad day for our family.
