Sunshine ~ Bruiser ~ Dixie State U ~ Dash Picture of the Day ~ Buffalo Chicken Tot Casserole ~ National Solitaire Day

Good 46º clear sunny morning.

Yesterday was sunny, breezy, and nice. We warmed to 81º.

Bruiser happily napped on his new window bed...

Interesting.... which state would you think Dixie State University would be in? Alabama? Georgia? Texas? Louisiana? Florida?
Not.

Dixie is a nickname for the Southern United States, especially those states that composed the Confederate States of America. The term originally referred simply to the states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, but now is more of a cultural reference, referring to parts of the United States that "feel" southern.

Dixie State University is a public comprehensive university in St. George, Utah. The university offers 48 bachelor's degrees, 19 associate's degrees, 36 minors, and 15 certificates/endorsements.
The institution began as St. George Stake Academy, founded in 1911 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Later it became a state school of the Utah System of Higher Education. In February 2013, the former Dixie State College, as it had been known since 2000, officially became Dixie State University.
The settled area of southern Utah has been known as “Dixie” since the early days of LDS settlement due to the fact that cotton would grow there, as well as tobacco and other semi-tropical plants such as the South produced.

Picture of the Day
Brian sent me this picture of Dash .....

So, I have this program on my computer called Dynamic Auto Painter....

So, it's fun to "tweak" photos and make them look like paintings.

Ok, here's a super recipe, simple, YUMMMMY, from Mr. Food...
Buffalo Chicken Tot Casserole.....

On your mark, get set, go! This Buffalo Chicken Tot Casserole will have everyone racing to fill up their plates. The combination of Buffalo wing sauce, chicken breasts, and creamy blue cheese makes this the perfect dish to dish out on game day!
  •
  • 3/4 cup Buffalo wing sauce, divided
  • 3 cooked chicken breasts, cut into 1/2-inch chunks (about 1-1/2 pounds)
  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 (32-ounce) package frozen potato tots
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup diced celery

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup wing sauce and chicken; toss until evenly coated. Place chicken evenly in baking dish, then sprinkle with blue cheese. Place potato tots over blue cheese, and drizzle with remaining wing sauce.
  3. Bake 35 minutes, then top with mozzarella cheese and bake 5 additional minutes, or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with celery and serve.

Later it was chair, wine, and TV. I watched the series finale of NCIS with Abby leaving the show. ☹  Also, thought it funny that all three of the winners for Miss America came from states starting with "N".... Miss Nebraska won, 1st runner up was Miss North Carolina, and 3rd runner up was Miss Nevada!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

On May 22, National Solitaire Day recognizes a card game that has been around for more than 200 years.
Also known as Klondike, the classic version of the game uses a standard deck of 52 playing cards. The object of the game is to clear the board by creating a stack of cards from low to high in each suit. If the player completes each suit, the game of Solitaire is won.
It wasn’t until 1990 when Microsoft included Solitaire in Windows 3.0 that the game truly went viral. Microsoft Solitaire successfully helped teach computer users how to use a mouse and, in the process, ended up becoming one of the most played video games in history.
“Over the past 28 years, Microsoft Solitaire has been providing great entertainment to hundreds of millions of players in every corner of the world, and we’re happy to announce that May 22 of each calendar year will officially be designated as National Solitaire Day, recognizing the day Microsoft first included Solitaire in Windows,” says Paul Jensen, Studio Manager for Microsoft Casual Games.
In 2012, Microsoft evolved Solitaire into the Microsoft Solitaire Collection, which features five of the top Solitaire games in one app. Since then, the game has been played by over 242 million people and has become so popular that each year 33 billion games are played with over 3.2 trillion cards dealt!
Microsoft Solitaire Collection is available as a free download from the WindowsiPhone, and Android App Stores.
HOW TO OBSERVE
There’s no need to be particularly productive today on National Solitaire Day – just play some Solitaire! Either on a computer, laptop, tablet, phone, or “go retro” and play using real cards.
