Good 45º clear sunny morning.

Boy, did we have some interesting clouds yesterday......

And with the blue sky we heated to 80º by late afternoon.

We just had our Oregon primary election and the number of ballots received was 777,774. The number of eligible voters is 2,665,014 ! Come on people, why don't you vote???

My choice for Congressman was Greg Walden,

who got 77% of the vote!

My choice for governor was Knute Buehler

and he got 47% of the vote over Carpenter at 29%, Wooldridge at 19%, and the rest of the runners at 1% 2% and 0%.

After a long day most of us don't want to spend extra time in the kitchen. That's where this recipe for Slow Cooked Chicken and Rice comes in. This easy, throw-together, one dish meal, cooks while you're away, so you can have a complete and satisfying dinner ready when you need it to be.

• 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
• 2 1/2 cups water
• 1 10¾ oz can condensed broccoli cheese soup
• 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
• 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
• 2 6 oz packages wild and long-grain converted rice mix with seasoning packets
• 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
•  
• In a 4-quart (or larger) slow cooker, combine chicken, water, soup, and onion; mix well. Cover and cook on low setting for 4 hours.
   
• Add broccoli and rice; cover and cook for an additional hour
•  
• Stir in cheese and serve.

Today was the birthday of my "grand dog" Atlas. He was Brian's dog, a Weimaraner. He was born in 2001 and passed away in 2013. I babysat him often and he was the SWEETEST dog. So missed.
