Here is a much loved Canadian recipe... just for you, my Canuk pal Ike Saben! Original recipe calls for cheese curds, but they can be substituted with white cheddar or mozzarella.
Poutine
What's "poutine" you ask? It's a famous Canadian recipe, that is a real crowd pleaser! Poutine fries are a tasty combination of gravy, cheese, and your favorite fries! We call our amazing poutine recipe "Anytime Poutine" because it's fast, easy, and the perfect dish for anytime you're feeling like a snack. So take a flavor vacation with us, to the tasty land of Canada! And once you taste this, you will want it ALL THE TIME!
- 1 (32-ounce) package frozen crinkle cut French Fries
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups beef broth
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon browning and seasoning sauce
- 1/2 (8-ounce) package white cheddar cheese or mozzarella
- Place French Fries on a baking sheet and coat them with cooking spray. Spraying the fries will make them extra crispy! Bake according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, to make the gravy, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and whisk until smooth and the mixture is golden in color.
- Slowly whisk in broth, salt, and pepper; countine stirring until mixture comes to a boil and begins to thicken. Stir in browning and seasoning sauce. This gives the sauce a nice rich color!
- In order to recreate the look of cheese curds, break of 1/2-inch pieces of white cheddar cheese. The rough uneven edges make these look just like the cheese curds found in traditional poutine recipes!
- Place French fries on a platter, top with chunks of cheese and drizzle with gravy. Serve immediately.
If you are short on time and don't want to make homemade gravy, no worries! You can use a jar of beef gravy instead. Just warm the gravy up, and pour it over our Anytime Poutine!
The go to browning seasoning sauce is Kitchen Bouquet..

I certainly remember that. Just about tossed out of bed at 6am. Jumped up to see if Kristen was ok. Lay in bed with her to keep her calm. Brian due on the 22nd but after that quake he decided to make his appearance early on the 14th! Lucy, our collie, would stand up and look nervous just seconds before the next after shock hit.
1971 – Apollo program: Apollo 14 returns to Earth after the third manned moon landing.
And births this date include...
1942 – Carole King, American singer
1943 – Joe Pesci, American actor

Very odd life of having and adopting children and the problems the children had. Strange woman!
Here is some interesting information about cashews...
Cashews are not sold to consumers in their shells. It turns out that the cashew shell is toxic. Cashews are a member of the same family as poison ivy, Anacardiaceae. Like poison ivy and many other members of the family, part of the cashew plant contains an oily chemical called urushiol, which can be fatal if ingested. The irritants are found in the shell oil, but not in the nuts themselves. Eating true raw, unprocessed cashews would result in you ingesting some of this urushiol. Thus, the seeds must be roasted at high temperatures to destroy the offending oil.
Dinner was Schwans Lasagna Roll-up on top of fresh spinach and with Prego Fresh Mushroom sauce and steamed broccoli and cauliflower.
These are individually wrapped curly edged lasagna pasta sheets hand rolled around a delicious blend of creamy whole milk ricotta, imported Pecorino Romano from Italy and Mozzarella cheeses.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.
