Good 39º drizzly morning.
Stayed pretty gloomy yesterday. The rain started about 10:30am and by this morning we had gotten 1/2".
Yesterday I was so frustrated with my computer that I didn't want to write a blog. Sigh.......... and friends, leaving AOL even though it's FUBAR right now, would be hard. I have been with AOL for 35 years. I don't even know how to find another site. Anyway....................
So, yesterday was the playoff games for the AFC and the NFL. "My" Patriots played the Jacksonville Jaguars and won 24-20. Amazingly enough, yesterday 24 years ago Robert Kraft bought the Patriots! And then then won with 24 points. Wow.

In the AFC playoff the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Philly Eagles. The Super Bowl ( ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_LII )
will be played in Minnesota at the Vikings stadium. Cool for "my" Tom Brady, as his mom is from Minnesota and he has lots of family there.
This will be Super Bowl 10 for the Patriots and number 8 for Tom Brady.

Here is a simple and one of the best recipes ever! It's my Mom's Tamale Pie - easy 'dump' one dish meal.
by Margaret Laney (August 15, 1905 - January 30, 1994)
I have given this recipe to a number of new brides who confessed they couldn't cook and they all said their husbands were thrilled with their cooking after this meal.
1½ pounds lean ground beef
1 large chopped onion
1 medium chopped bell pepper
1 small can corn with pimento
1 standard can whole pitted black olives
2 cans stewed tomatoes
1 can enchilada sauce
1 large bag Fritos
salt to taste
Brown meat, set aside. Cook onion and pepper in small amount of oil until tender. Mix all ingredients together in large casserole dish. Bake 350º 45 minutes.

Here are today’s five thing to know about Southern Food:
- The most notable influences on southern cooking come from English, Scottish, Irish, German, French, Native American, and African American cuisines.
- Many items such as squash, tomatoes, corn (and its derivatives, including grits), as well as the practice of deep pit barbecuing were inherited from the southeastern American Indian tribes such as the Caddo, Choctaw, and Seminole.
- The South’s propensity for a full breakfast (as opposed to a Continental one with a simple bread item and drink) is derived from the English fry up, although it was altered substantially.
- A traditional Southern meal is pan-fried chicken, field peas (such as black-eyed peas), greens (such as collard greens or mustard), mashed potatoes, cornbread or corn pone, sweet tea, and a dessert that is usually a pie (sweet potato, chess, shoofly, pecan, and peach are traditional southern pies), or a cobbler (peach, blackberry, or mixed berry are traditional cobblers).
- At least a dozen soups also have their origins in the American South.
