Good 35º raining morning. Snow was predicted, but we didn't get any.... Just 1" of rain that started about 12:45.
Yesterday we warmed to only 43º and it was cloudy and gloomy all day.
Talk about tasty spicy honey garlic drumsticks.... this recipe
is kickin'. They are sweet, spicy, sticky, and a whole lot of "can I have
another please"!! Make this with 24 drumsticks or cut it in half, using 12.
24 chicken drumsticks
1 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper
1 cup honey
1/4 cup chopped garlic
2 T hot pepper sauce
1. Preheat oven to 400º.
2. Place drumsticks on baking sheet and season with salt and
pepper.
3. Bake 30 minutes
4. Meanwhile mix honey, garlic, and hot pepper
sauce.
5. Baste drumsticks with sauce (drain off excess liquid before
basting) and bake another 25 minutes.
** Make an extra batch of basting sauce, as most people will want
extra!
Schwans showed up with my order....
I got: shrimp spring rolls and pork spring rolls, shrimp
scampi, chicken fries, five grain rice pilaf, micro steam green beans, mango
chunks, key lime pie, sausage breakfast bagel pouches, and breakfast bacon/egg
pizzas.
Earlier the Life Alert tech, Mick, showed up. Nice guy. He had lived
in W. Covina. Worked in ELA and Industry. Now a local here. Anyway, I have a
button by the shower like this:
If you push it then you can talk to the Life Alert operator.
I have one button I wear (either pendent or on the wrist) and
when pushed the main box (in the living room) will talk to me from anywhere in
the house (except in the shower... that's why the one in the bathroom). And
then one that goes in my purse/car that has GPS and will talk to you no matter
where you are in any US state. Makes me feel pretty safe now.

This is interesting.... have you ever wondered why your bag of potato chips was half-empty? Actually there is no ordinary air in the bag. All of the air (oxygen) is removed and replaced with nitrogen gas. This is called nitrogen flushing. Nitrogen does not affect the taste of the chips or react with the chips like oxygen does. This increases the shelf life of the chips. The nitrogen gas fills up the bag so the contents inside are protected during shipping. If the bags were filled with oxygen it could have spoiled the chips and made them soggy.
Later it was spring egg rolls and some mango and then a piece of the key lime
pie. OMGOSH! So good!
I wanted to sit in my chair, warmed with an electric blanket, but Bruiser took it over~!!!
Finally chair, wine, and TV....... NYPD Blue (which by the way was a horrible episode...boring!), Hawaii 5-0, news, and channel flipping!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

December 20, 2017
is
National Sangria Day
It’s National Sangria Day! This refreshingly fruity drink is
the perfect cure for your winter blues. There are thousands of different
variations of sangria that combine such ingredients as sliced fruit, honey,
sugar, juice, carbonated soda, red or white wine, and other alcohols. Each
combination changes the flavor, alcohol content, and carbonation of the
sangria.
Sangria is a popular drink at bars, pubs, and restaurants in
Portugal, Spain, and Mexico, and at tapas restaurants in the United States.
However, at one point, it was illegal to serve sangria in the state of Virginia!
It violated an obscure 75-year-old law that did not allow the mixing of wine or
beer with spirits. Violators of this law could be charged with a misdemeanor, a
hefty fine, and up to a year in jail. It was not until 2008 that the Virginia
General Assembly finally legalized the serving of sangria.
To celebrate National Sangria Day, conjure up your favorite
sangria recipe to enjoy with friends and family!
- December 20, 2017 is also National Fried Shrimp Day
