Good 37 º dark foggy morning.
Today is a day that I wish I could celebrate on a bigger
scale, as it is Jerry's birthday. We had some things in common.... both of us
having birthdays on the second of the month, 3 months apart. My daughter born on
Halloween and my son born on Valentine's Day. Jerry's dad born on Halloween and
his mom on Valentine's Day!
I met him at Temple Sheriff's Station
when I went in to apply
for the test for deputy. He was working the desk, dispatcher at the time, and
came out to ask if he could help me. He said he was smitten from that moment. I
was too. We went out on our first date a couple weeks later and never were apart
from that day on!
Jerry Wayne Maxwell 12-2-40 - 2-12-07 (odd, right? born on 12-2 and died on 2-12)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Ok, here is one of Jerry's favorite recipes...
The best cioppino ever was from Scoma's at
Fisherman's Wharf in SF. Jerry loved it as much as I did!
This is my sister Marion's version....
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1/3 cup chopped parsley
1 15oz can tomato sauce
1 1#12oz can diced Italian tomatoes
1 cup red wine
1 bay leaf
1 t. dried basil
1/2 t. oregano leaves
1 big chunk halibut fish, boneless and fresh
1 dozen fresh clams in the shell
1 pound med sized raw shrimp, about 30
2 large Dungeness crabs, about 2# each, cleaned and cracked
In large skillet, heat oil over med heat. Add onions, garlic, green pepper,
and parsley. Cook stirring until onion is soft. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes
and their liquid, wine, bay leaf, basil, and oregano. Add in the halibut in a
big chunk. Cover and simmer for an hour. Then add in the clams, shrimp, and
crab. Cook about 20 minutes until clams open and shrimp is pink.
