Do you know the difference between a Crow and a Raven?
These two species, Common Ravens and American Crows, overlap widely
throughout North America, and they look quite similar. But with a bit of
practice, you can tell them apart.
You probably know that ravens are larger, the size of a Red-tailed Hawk.
Ravens often travel in pairs, while crows are seen in larger groups. Also, watch
the bird’s tail as it flies overhead. The crow’s tail feathers are basically the
same length, so when the bird spreads its tail, it opens like a fan. Ravens,
however, have longer middle feathers in their tails, so their tail appears
wedge-shaped when open.
Listen closely to the birds’ calls. Crows give a cawing sound. But ravens
produce a lower croaking sound.
Ravens will walk and then do several
hops...
Ravens have bigger, curvier beaks relative to crows. While both species
have bristles at the base of the beak, the raven's are noticeably longer. Its
throat feathers are also quite shaggy.

Cut each breast into 3 pieces, season all the chicken with the spices, then
wrap a bacon slice around each piece, roll in brown sugar and place into an oven
proof dish....make sure you have some olive oil in the dish too, like 2 or 3
tablespoons. (or non-stick cooking spray)
Bake at 400º for 30 to 40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and bacon is nice and brown and crispy. Delicious served with mashed potatoes with some of the gravy from the chicken drizzled on top.
Later it was Dodgers vs Astros at World Series Game 3. Another nail biter! Dodgers lost 5-3. :o( At the game was President H W Bush and sitting close to announcer Alex Rodriguez was Jennifer Lopez. (Be still my heart! Chocolate here I come!!!)
October 28, 2017 is
National Chocolate Day
Today is National Chocolate Day! Just what you’ve been waiting for – a
reason to eat more chocolate! Americans consume an average of 12 pounds per
person per year. Do you help contribute to this staggering stat?
Valentine’s Day and Easter are two of the top holidays for buying
chocolate, but you can’t forget about Christmas or Halloween! However, many will
argue that chocolate is best enjoyed year-round.
To celebrate National Chocolate Day, enjoy some chocolate with each meal
today! Try hot chocolate or chocolate donuts for breakfast. A fun lunch idea is
to pair your favorite dish with a tall glass of chocolate milk. For dinner, try
a traditional mole sauce, made with cocoa powder. Top it all off with a decadent
chocolate dessert!
Give a friend a box of chocolates, try a new recipe using chocolate, or
treat yourself to some!
and second favorite is a Hershey Bar slathered with peanut butter!
