Throw Back Thursday.... 2006. Jerry snapped this of me with the "pack"....
Yukon, aka Tri-Pod on the left, Maggie, and Buckwheat on the couch. Missing
was Spanky. She and Buckwheat didn't get along, so had to keep them separated.
Frustrated beyond words.... the Greenies Pill Pouches showed up yesterday. Ok, UPS doesn't deliver very often, they drop packages at the Post Office because of some contract they have. GRRRRRRR.... so I have to go into town to get my order! Anyway, got the Greenies, tried them out of Dude and he was totally uncooperative! He FINALLY ate one of them but wouldn't eat any more. Sigh..................
On a better note..... my high school friend Carol Nasca sent me this Dodger
shirt.....
THANK YOU CAROL!! Will be wearing this for sure!!! xo Good talking to you

National Apple Betty Day ... or Brown Betty
BETTY, or brown betty, alternates layers of fruit with layers of buttered
bread crumbs. Some modern recipes use graham cracker crumbs—but it must have
crumbs, not streusel, to be a betty (here’s a recipe). Who was betty? No one
knows, but the the dish was first mentioned in print in 1864, so the Betty who
created it was working without a modern oven, much less
electricity.
4 slices white bread, toasted
3 cups sliced peeled tart apples
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup half-and-half
Tear toast into bite-sized pieces. Place in a greased 1½ qt
casserole. Top with apples. Combine sugars and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples.
Drizzle with butter.
Cover and bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Serve warm with cream,
or whipped cream, or ice cream.
