Good smokey 54º morning.
Yesterday it was so clear in the morning. The smoke gradually
came in and by 11 o'clock it was stinky again! By 1pm my mountain had
disappeared again! We topped at 94º.
Picture of the day....
The other day I got a phone call from a local business here in town, local number. I answered it and it was a scam of some type and they wanted me to sign up for some kind of low interest credit card. I told the woman to "shut up"!! Wasn't easy to get a word in! Then when I came back from the doctor appointment on Tuesday I stopped at the business...
This is a local bar/restaurant. More bar than restaurant, but
anyway... I talked to the owner or manager, whatever he was, and asked him if
the phone number I had written down was the bar's. He said yes. Then I asked him
if someone there was doing a credit card thing... He said no. So I suggested
that his number had been hacked (which is getting more common) and he needed to
call the phone company! Geeeesh, always a scam coming from somewhere!

Emma M. Nutt Day
Emma M. Nutt Day celebrates
the first woman telephone operator in America.
Emma Nutt became the first woman telephone operator on September 1, 1878.
She loved the job, and worked at it for 33 years.
This special day celebrates the world of telephone operators. It was a very
important job for many decades. Today, the position has been eliminated being
replaced by automation in telephone systems. Can you imagine what Emma would
think about today's cell phone world!?
A little side note about Emma: According to Emma, she was "very
thankful that my first name was not
Imma".
