Good 60º smokey hazy sky morning.
Yesterday the temps started rising about 11am when it was 85º,
1pm 99º, 2pm 103º, 3pm 107º,
4pm 108º, 5pm 109º.
It was hotter downtown Rogue River, Grants Pass, and Medford. I think
because I live at this altitude, 1200', and not surrounded by asphalt it stays a
bit cooler here. Here is a picture Dan at Ace posted of their sign....
Especially now, with this horrendous heat, my heart goes out to all the
firemen/women out there fighting all the wildfires. God Bless them for what they
are doing!!!
Yesterday I had a couple errands to run... pay Ace bill, pick
up packages at PO, and get some chicken thighs to cook for Dude. Did it all
before 10am and felt sooooo good to be back inside my cool house! Iced coffee
day!!!
Happy Throw Back Thursday...
"Two Cool Sisters" !! My sis Marion and I in 1990 on a road trip, stopping
to take pictures!
Cool California is 40 miles north of Sacramento. We were
either going to or from Tahoe, where she lived.
A special anniversary today... former Temple City neighbors
Bob and Marie Vincent are celebrating 54 years today! CONGRATULATIONS
KIDS!!!
And yes, yesterday was Marie's birthday!
Special birthday today is my fav football guy, Tom Brady. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TOMMY!!!

Picture of the day.... animal pals. (Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!)
The birthday boy kept close yesterday... nosing around on my desk and then
napping...
Later for dinner I put the frozen Schwans pork egg rolls in the Air Fryer to get them hot and crunchy. I also micro-steamed some of Schwans green beans.
OMGOSH these are SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Certainly going to buy them again. They
can be heated in the oven or the microwave also. Super easy, super good! That
sweet chili sauce is addictive!!!
Chair, wine, TV.
I looked out back and this cracked me up... one of the turkeys was cooling
off standing in the water tub...
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

National Watermelon Day
This big fruit deserves it's own big day. So, we give pause to celebrate
watermelons on National Watermelon Day. Sweet and tasty, watermelons, are one of
summer's favorite fruit. It's standard fare at picnics. While watermelon is over
90% water, it sure tastes good. And, what picnic would be complete without a
seed spitting contest?
Our research was unable to establish this day a true national day (which
requires an act of congress). We also have not uncovered the origin of this day.
we suspect it originated by an agricultural organization, or perhaps a wild and
crazy watermelon fan.
Please don't limit your consumption of watermelon to just this month.
Stores carry watermelon twelve months of the year.
Today’s five facts about watermelons:
- By weight, watermelon is the most-consumed melon in the U.S., followed by cantaloupe and honeydew.
- Watermelon is 92% water.
- The first recorded watermelon harvest occurred nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt.
- Watermelon’s official name is Citrullus Lanatus of the botanical family Curcurbitaceae. It is cousins to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash.
- Early explorers used watermelons as canteens.
