Wilcox Farms ~ America ~ Atlas/Throw Back Thursday ~ Quiche ~ Skeeter ~ Chicago Fire

Good 36º clear sunny morning.

Breakfast yesterday was a couple of those Wilcox Farms hard boiled peeled eggs, red bell pepper, and cottage cheese.

Those eggs are amazing. No cooking and no peeling. Love it! Also, pal Dave Clark (LASD ret) and his Pam live in Washington State and know the Wilcox family. Said they are super nice folks and one of the family is a local  Washington State Representative, a Republican! Taaa daaaa.....

The sun came out and it was heaven for Dude, who had followed Mike all over the day before in the rain!

This is a really neat short video, shared by Roger  Zombeck .. LASD ret) of "America" narrated by Charlie Daniels...

It got me emotional. Loved it!!!

Today is Throw Back Thursday, so these photos will honor that:
Today was a special sweet dog's birthday. Atlas was Brian's dog. He passed away in 2013, he was 12. Here are some photos of him..

Here is a good and simple quiche recipe...

1 refrigerated pie crust
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1½ cups diced cooked ham
4 eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1. Preheat oven to 350º. Place pie crust in a 9" deep dish pie plate and flute edges.
2. In medium bowl combine the cheeses, mix well. Place half the cheese mix in the pie shell, top with ham, and then remaining cheese.
3. In bowl, combine eggs and half-and-half, whisking well. Pour evenly over top of pie.
4. Bake 50-55 minutes, until center is set. Cool 10 minutes before serving.

OR... you can do like I do and buy the quiche 2 pack at Costco. One is Cheddar & Broccoli and the other is Spinach & Artichoke.

Pop them in the oven (thawed or frozen) and Taaaaa Daaaaaa...... or heat individual servings in the microwave.

Later I had a quick chat with Nancy. She and Dave had taken their little Jack Russell, Skeeter (sweet sweet pup!), in for cataract surgery yesterday. She had developed diabetes and went blind. The surgery apparently worked as after the anesthetic wore off she was looking all around! Yeah!!!

Watched the season finale of Chicago Fire. OMGOSH, scary. http://hollywoodlife.com/2017/05/17/who-survived-chicago-fire-finale-severide-alive-interview/ Now the new season won't start until October! Dang! Cliff hanger ending last night.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

No Dirty Dishes Day

No Dirty Dishes Day is a reprieve from the daily pile of dishes to wash and dry. Day after day, we do the daily chore of washing and drying dishes, then put them away in various cabinets and drawers. We perform this task after each and every meal, and often after snacks. Even putting them in and out of the dishwasher and running it, can be a chore.
You deserve a break from this routine. And, today is that day. The objective of this day is to have no dirty dishes. It is not intended to pile them up until tomorrow.
We can think of two ways to avoid dirty dishes today:
Use disposable plates, cups and silverware for all meals and snacks.
Take the family out to eat all three meals. Then for snack, go out for ice cream!

We strongly recommend that you do not pile up the dishes to do tomorrow.  This defeats the purpose of this very special day.
