On the plane we were given a "Sroopwafel" to go
with our coffee.
OMGOOOOOD!!! I just ordered some from Amazon.
They are made in the Netherlands. "Soft toasted waffle filled with caramel (or
some have honey), cinnamon, and real bourbon vanilla." Pour your coffee and set
one on top of the cup and it will warm.
Dinner last night was an Omaha Steaks Sole
Almondine and a stuffed baked potato both cooked in the Air Fryer.
I had found an ear of corn in the fridge that had
been there since before I had left for Hawaii. It was wrinkled and looking not
so good. So, I put about 1/4 cup vinegar in a pot of water and brought it to a
boil. Dropped in the corn and let it boil about 2 minutes, turned off the heat
and set it aside until my dinner was ready. Miracle.... the corn puffed out and
tasted perfect!!
I have said this before, I always put vinegar in
the water to cook the corn, as it never has a vinegar taste, but it keeps
the corn crispy and never mushy.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday.

National Nut Day

National Nut Day is today. It's a little kooky and crazy if
you ask me.
One can go a little bit batty contemplating the
meaning of this day. Research came up empty on information about this day. So,
we can't be certain as to the meaning of this very nutty day. There are two very
obvious possibilities:
1. This day honors (???) all of the nutty people
in the world. It gives recognition to all the kooks, loony birds and daffy
people in your life. Show them you care today.
2. This day celebrates nutritious and healthy
nuts (food) of all kinds. Celebrate today by eating lots of nuts, either as a
snack, or in baked goods.
Of course it is always possible that this day
celebrates the "Nut" that screws onto a bolt for fastening things.
A couple of nutty facts:
Peanuts are not really nuts. They are Legumes, a member of the "Pea"
family.
The center of seeds, like pumpkins and squash, is called a
"nut".

Good beautiful sunrise morning. The sky is heavy with smoke here- hoping it is leftover from an industrial fire last afternoon. In Ontario, it was an inferno, but thought it was brought under control,as the airport was open.

Thank you for the tip on corn. I've not used vinegar in cooking water, but will try. What I have done is wait until the water is boiling to throw them in water with a tsp of salt and sugar.

I saw that fire on the news, L. Wow, it was something! Never had a Stroopwafel before the plane ride home from SF. So yummmmmy!!! Yes, vinegar is better than salt and sugar. xoxo
Great tip for corn. I am sure there are many things in our frig that need reviving. With this kitchen remodel we don't use much from the frig. In fact I just had to pour out nearly a whole gallon of milk! :(
I told John yesterday that after flying to Cleveland and back on first class I am now spoiled and will never again go coach. He said no problem because after this remodel you won't be going anywhere ever again! LOL
Oh yes, great idea for duct tape! While in Cleveland on the buses going from Sandusky into Cleveland we passed by the home and manufacturer of Duct Tape! :)

Wow, a kitchen remodel is expen$ive!!! Yes, I traveled first class a couple of times, and it was awesome! Now they don't have it as blocked off as they used to, T. As far as duct tape if that won't fix it then WD-40 will! xoox
