Clouds and More Rain ~ Ponderings ~ Wine & Misc Glasses ~ Risotto & Sole Almondine ~ Sushi Day & Benihanas

Good 53º scattered clouds morning.

Hi. Happy Saturday!

Breakfast again was the eggs cooked in the microwave in a porcelain bowl with a saucer on top. Thanks Patrick! I do like the eggs better this way than in the plastic omelette or poacher or the Egg-Tastic!

Yesterday it was gloomy and rainy and 50ºs . Rains on and off and stopped about 1:30. Temps in the 60ºs by then. Then rain started again on and off an into the evening. We ended up with 1/2" !
Yesterday morning:

Afternoon:

Ponder these....
Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're both dogs!

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables,
what is baby oil made from?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you,
but when you take him for a car ride,
he sticks his head out the window?

I got busy and cleaned out some kitchen cupboards. I found that I had about 40 wine glasses! Some I'm keeping, antiques, and some that were gifts. All kinds of other glasses too... I told Brian I had found 40 wine glasses in the cupboards and he said, "Good, they will go with the 40 some wine shirts you have." !!! LOL
Some from travels:

A Maxwell car, Bryan's cleaners in Pasadena, and Applegate Ranch up here:

Shot glasses from a cruise, a Sturgis glass, Crete, Greece, and one from Weed California:

WHY do I have so much stuff?????????????

Later dinner was Parmesan Risotto and Sole Almondine (from Omaha Steaks)....
The risotto cooked a few minutes in the microwave, the sole at 450º in the oven for 25 minutes.

OMGOSH it was GOOD!!!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

June 18th
International Sushi Day

Jerry had been stationed in Japan while in the Marines, at Camp Fuji http://www.fuji.marines.mil/About/History.aspx .
He learned to love Japanese food and on one of our first dates he too me to Benihanas in Encino

The chefs perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. With razor sharp blades they slice through tender steak and juicy chicken. They sizzle shrimp, lobster, and vegetables. The sushi chef will prepare fresh nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls, also a flair!

After that experience I loved Japanese food and learned to make Maki-zushi rolls (rice and ingredients wrapped in nori using a bamboo mat) with all the things we loved ... Japanese sticky rice, cooked shrimp or raw fish, avocado, etc.

The kids all learned to use chopsticks!

Wish we had a Benihana close, but the closest is in Beverton Oregon! Which is a 4 hour drive, as it's just Southwest of Portland. Dang!
