Good 43º clear sunny morning. Going to warm up quite a bit
today and for the next few days.
What a beautiful day it was yesterday. By noon it was only
69º. And by 1:30 it was 79º. I think we topped out at 81º.
About that time (1:30) I ran 5 miles (Dude!) to take the trash to the road
and put the can out for pickup. Dude was a happy camper to run. He loves it!

Such and exciting day... paid bills, with checks and on line. Over the top
excitement! Got them all done before I went insane. HATE doing this!!
Lunch was plain Greek yogurt and fresh fruit... watermelon, cantaloupe, and
Honeydew.

This is a total tragedy... a firefighter shoots and kills his wife,
a 2 year veteran of LA Co Sheriff's Dept, in La Canada Flintridge last night and
takes their 6 year old son to relatives, continues to fire department facility
in Pacoima an kills himself.

Instead of chicken I used the canned pork I got from Costco...
The tamales and an ear of corn, slathered with butter! I know.... butter
for a change. OMGOOOOOD of course!
The tamale muffins were good, but were a little too moist. This morning I took one and took a bit
out of it cold. It was GOOD!! Then I heated it for 10 seconds in the
microwave and ate it. REALLY better the next day, as they are sooooooooo moist
right after cooking them.
Great finger food, but as I say, better the next day when they have rested
all night in the fridge. Will make again!
Speaking of dinner, this sent to me by Jon Austin (LASD ret):
Le Petit Chef came up with an original way to entertain guests
while waiting for their order .. using a projector on the ceiling, and the
animation on the table. There is a small chef who prepares a meal on your plate.

Chair, wine, iPad solitaire, the NASCAR races. Carl Edwards won and was
spectacular when he climbed out of his car and stood on the window frame and did
a back flip off the vehicle!!! OMG. Apparently this is his standard way of celebrating!
This was at Darlington Raceway, but one of Edwards crew made the D into a C
on the raceway wall!!!

Labor Day
Dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the
"workingman's holiday". The holiday is dedicated to you in respect and
appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, union or non-union,
big company, small companies, or government. As long as you work somewhere at
something, this holiday is for you!
The first Labor Day was held celebrated in New York City on September 5,
1882 and was started by the Central Labor Union in New York City. In 1884, it
was moved to the first Monday in September where it is celebrated today. Labor
Day quickly became popular and one state after another voted it as a holiday. On
June 28, 1894, the U.S. congress voted it a national holiday.
Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall
Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer
vacations are over.
Labor Day tradition: This
day is celebrated with a day off and union sponsored parades. Many people
celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many
people close up the pool, and put away the boats.
Was it McGuire or Maguire? Either Peter McGuire or Matthew Maguire is
the Creator of Labor Day. Peter J. McGuire, was an active labor organizer. He
was also general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a
co-founder of the American Federation of Labor. He was believed to be the first
to suggest a day be dedicated to American workers and their accomplishments.
Matthew Maguire however, was secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York in
1882 and many believed that he proposed the holiday in
1882.

Glad you enjoyed the tamale muffins. I am still eating them. As I told you they weren't a big hit around here! "Not enough meat" was the comment I got. Meat and potatoes, casseroles and fried chicken! That's what they want.
Maybe I will make tacos tonight and serve them with. lol You corn looked perfect.
