Good 51º hazy sunny morning. Yesterday stayed nice... breezy and clear.
Today the smoke is coming back in big time! Took "5 Miles" for a run about 9:30
before it got warm. He needs and LOVES to run, but not in the heat and smoke!By
10am it was 69º.
Breakfast this morning was an Egg-Tastic cooked egg...fits perfectly on an
English Muffin! Slathered on the creamy garlic sauce on a warmed sourdough
muffin, added cheese, set the cooked egg on top, added lettuce.
Perfect!

Yesterday Mike Hannan was here to help with chores. He trimmed some dying
bushes down by the gate
picked up tree fall, cut down a dead tree, and fixed the loose aluminum
roof on the tractor shed...
Then he went to Jennifer's and fixed her stove! Whatta guy.
Lunch yesterday was seaweed rice cakes with a slice of provolone and topped
with guacamole, some herb tea, and blueberry scones. YUMMMM! Will get some more
of that guacamole next trip to Costco. SOOOOOOO good!!!!

Three Americans stopped a gunman on a train from Amsterdam to
Paris. They are heroes! Were presented with medals by the Mayor of Arras, France
... One was injured and is in the hospital. Out of the three, one is going to
school in Sacramento, one former National Guard who served in Afghanistan from
Roseburg Oregon, and one in the Air Force....

Spencer Stone, USAF, was hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds. Boy, did
they save a bunch of lives!!!!!
Dinner was leftovers and an ear of corn slathered with creamy
garlic sauce ... oink! Then the rest of the Hallmark movie, A Crush On You. Good
movie!
After Mike finished his "chores" we sat and talked for a bit. During that
time I received a call from All Natural Pest Control... it was my favorite
Dodger, Jack Fimple~! He retired from baseball, being a catcher for the Dodgers,
and moved to Orygun and works for All Natural. He made my day, saying he reads
and likes my blog! Whoooooooo hooooooo! Love you Jack! As I told him in my best
East LA accent.... "I lo da Daw-yers" !!! LOL. He laughed and said he hadn't
heard that in years! He called me about renewing my contract.

National Spumoni Day

SPUMONIA
Neapolitan specialty, with layers of three different colored and flavored ice
cream: Chocolate, pistachio and cherry are a popular combination. Other flavors
can be used, with nuts and candied fruit added to the layers. Originally, in the
days before ice cream, spumoni was sherbet blended with a large amount of
Italian meringue (cooked, beaten egg white sweetened with hot sugar syrup); the name comes from the Italian word for for foam, spuma. While this photo shows four
flavors (cherry vanilla, chocolate and pistachio ice creams, plus raspberry
sorbet) in a fancy design, you can make a spumoni terrine by layering chocolate,
pistachio and cherry ice cream (3 cups each):

Line a large loafpan with overlapping
pieces of plastic wrap, leaving an overhang on all sides. Soften the ice cream
one flavor at a time, until it can be spread in the pan. Cover pan with plastic
wrap and freeze about 30 minutes; repeat with the other two flavors. In-between
layers, you can add candied fruit, maraschino cherries and/or chopped pistachio
nuts. Return to freezer until ready to use; slice and serve.
