Good 56º clear sunny morning.
Hmmmmm......
Yesterday I took Dude and the golf cart, (I ran 5 Miles!) and
took stuff to our recycle bin and checked out the work Trees Inc had done on
Friday.
Dude waits for me in the back of the golf cart until we turn
around and then he runs back up the 3/10th of a mile to the
house...
The smaller tree next to this one was taken down and this one
trimmed up...
Walking through PJ and Dave's property was a couple hens and
their baby turkey chicks...
I was busy cutting up cardboard to go in the recycle bin when
a car suddenly stopped on the road. The turkeys were going across the road! Poor
lady, scared her. She gave me a smile and a shoulder shrug!
Here is the trunk of the tree....
What an odd design. Looks like a small
tree, then a square tree surrounded by a huge tree with green around the
edges!
Good thing we did this early, as by noon it was 91º. UGH. At 12:45 it was
93º. Double UGH. 2pm 98º. 3:30pm 99.3º.
I received my electric bill for the month. After running my AC almost 24/7
during the triple digit days, which was most of the month, my bill is only $123
!!! Thank goodness for the Mitsubishi system!!! It only uses about
17% electricity of what other ACs use. Amazing. Ductless. I have three units,
one in the living room, one in the dining room, and one upstairs on the landing.
Keeps me warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Does anyone want or need a fluffy soft cat bed (or can be used for a
Chihuahua size dog) or know anyone who does? This bed I bought for Bruiser. He
slept in it during one winter only and now won't anymore.
Storage tip...
Lettuce can be stored up to a month in a glass jar and stay fresh:
Although, I will try it and use a wide-mouth jar!
Today my niece Nancy's husband Dan is celebrating his
birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!

Dinner was one of my combos.... I cooked two yams in the slow
casserole cooker.
Cut in half length-wise, added water half way up their sides,
lid on, set on high, cook til tender, 3-4 hours ...not mushy. Let cool, peel and
cut into chunks. I could have eaten them all right then and there!
Soooooooooooooo good!
Then I re-hydrated some Harmony House carrots and celery.
Cooked in the rice cooker some...Lundberg Wild Blend Rice.. http://www.lundberg.com/products/entrees-sides/
(long grain brown rice, sweet brown rice, wild rice, whole grain Wehani rice,
and whole grain black Japonica rice) This company has so many yummy sides. Go to
the site, put in your city or zip code and find out where it's sold in your
area. Also after the blend rice was cooked I cooked some Farro http://www.earthlychoice.com/farro.html .
Then into a big pan I put olive oil, the cooked rice and farro, some broccoli
slaw, and the yams...
I added the dehydrated carrots and celery ...
and mixed well. Then topped it with the buffalo wing chicken
and stirred that up and heated through...
This was AWESOMLY good!!! The chicken has just enough spicy flavor to jazz
up all that rice and veggies! The carrots and celery provided a crunch to the
rice and farro as well as the broccoli slaw. Ahhhhh, breakfast today!
Entertainment was another Hallmark movie and a nap in my
chair! Excitement runs rampant here!
This came out about 2:15 yesterday afternoon:

July 19th
National Ice Cream Day
National
Ice Cream Day - 3rd Sunday in July
Ice
Cream Day - December 13
When
you get the urge for a snack on a hot, humid summer night, what's the first
thing that comes to your mind? That's right....Ice Cream! Therefore, it's only
fitting that ice cream be given it's own special day. On this day, we hope you
enjoy an ice cream cone, a sundae, or a milk shake. Set the diet aside and
splurge a little...have one of each!
In
1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He
also established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month.
Ice
cream is nutritious. A little heavy on the sugar and calories, ice cream is
otherwise good for you. Its base ingredient is milk, which is loaded with
healthy vitamins and minerals.
Did
you know? Charles E. Minches of St.
Louis, Missouri is credited with inventing the ice cream cone. On July 23, 1904
at the World's Fair in St. Louis, he filled a pastry cone with two scoops of ice
cream to make the first ice cream cone. There is some controversy over this
claim. Italo Marchiony of New York City filed a patent for the ice cream cone
months before the fair opened. And, he was selling lemon ice in cones as early
as 1896.

Woo Hoo- I was a day early for Ice Cream Day.
Your blog has a peaceful look to it today. So very nice.
Congrats on the electric bill. If Gerry ever again works full-time from his office here, that room heats up faster than the others- a unit like you have could be just the ticket.
You can never be too early for ice cream! xo
