At 3:30 the sky was clouding up.... to the East it was dark and to the
South not as gloomy...
And last night about 8 pm we had the most brilliant colorful sunset! In the
distance to the east I did hear a little thunder.
I posted this in 2011.... thought some of you needed to see this....
sooooooooooooo easy and soooooooooooooo good!
Ok, as I said
before I am not a big fan of Paula Deen, but this recipe of hers I got in 2003
and have made it a lot and it's GREAT!
Corn Casserole
1 - 15¼ oz
can whole kernel corn, drained
1 - 14¾ oz
can cream-style corn
1 - 8 oz pkg
corn muffin mix (Jiffy)
1 cup sour
cream
1 stick
butter - melted
1 ½ cups
shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven
to 350º
In large bowl
mix all ingredients except cheese. Pour into casserole dish sprayed with cooking
spray or greased with butter. Bake 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove
from oven and top with cheese. Return to oven for 5-10 minutes, until cheese is
melted. Let stand 5 minutes and serve warm.

A while back Brian was in the barn looking for tools and he brought this
box up to the house. I finally went through it. Lots of stuff Brian and Kristen
wrote to my parents and pictures. This box is an old Bullocks Christmas box,
dated 1963.
I spent quite some time going through things in it. Scanning photos, etc.
Now I have two big envelopes, one for Kristen and one for Brian!

Yesterday an email from Diamond Bar friend, Edda, she talked about memory
lane... Alvera Street, Knott's Chicken, Micky D's, Newport and Balboa Fun Zone.
I LOVED Olvera Street and the taquitos at the first vender stand at the
entrance.
Then there was Philippe's across from the Terminal Annex Post Office.
French Dip sandwiches to die for!!!
Daddy worked at the Terminal Annex Post Office ...
which is down the street from Union Station, which is across the street from Olavera Street...
Oh so many memories!!
Later it was TV and reruns for dinner.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Hershey bars. What wonderful children we could be if we promised our parents to be good- and followed through.
The corn casserole is even better if you stir in some drained, canned chilies. Mom used to serve it on holidays as a side dish when ham was the main course.
Our weather was absolutely perfect yesterday. It is July- and the air conditioner wasn't needed- YES!
Yes, L, the chilis sound great! Guess I will have to make some soon! And wow, no AC! Good for you. xo
Haha - I was just going to say that I use almost the same exact recipe, but I put diced green chilis and diced jalapeños, our family likes everything spicy and I don't top with cheese. I made it Monday night to go with dinner for my Dad.
Also, love the Bullocks box. So glad that was found and you got to go through it to pass on to the kids.
I sure hope your weather cools down, that is way too HOT!!
