Good 57º cloudy morning.

 

 

Yesterday I piddled around the house all morning. It stayed cool with a great breeze. With this nice cool weather it's wonderful to leave the windows open, except for the IRRITATING rooster my neighbors Gerard and Maria have! GADZ I wish they'd roast him for dinner! What a pain to hear constantly!!!!

 

Here is an interesting storage trick. Store onions in pantyhose. Tie a knot between each one to separate. They will last up to 8 months!

 

In the afternoon I headed to Grants Pass. As I left my driveway I noticed my sign Jerry had made and been broken with the 4 having fallen off and in need of paint and hanging sideways was FIXED! OMG. Jerry made this just after he got his John Deere tractor so he painted the sign with the John Deere green and yellow!

When I came back home I stopped at neighbors Frank and Cindy and it was Frank who fixed and painted the sign! What GREAT neighbors I have. So fortunate! Thanks again Frank!!! xoxoxo's

 

I headed to The Haul (yes, again) and met Mike.

He got there early and ordered a 'cheese plate'. It consisted of 3 cheeses (OH SO GOOD!), Tasso ham, roasted nuts, and ciabatta toast. Jennifer got there a little late, but we totally forgave her! LOL. Anyway, she and Mike had a pizza (musta been good, not one piece left!) and I had a Cesar salad....

Mike had some kind of Russian beer and Jen and I had wine...

We sat there and yackety yaked for several hours! I told Chad, the owner, I loved the mussel pizza I had on the last visit, but it needed more mussels. He said he'd do that! Back to The Haul soon for another pizza!

 

I took Jen one of the 9x9 pans of the tamale casserole to try.

Since yesterday was Tamale Casserole day, today's dish is Taco Pasta Salad:

1# medium pasta shells (your fav)

1 can black beans, drained

2 cups corn, frozen canned or fresh

2 tomatoes, seeded and diced

1½ cups your fav salsa

½ cup cilantro, chopped

1/3 cup olive oil

¼ cup lime juice

2 T Old El Paso taco seasoning

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese, or your fav

3 avocados, firm but ripe, diced

 

Cook pasta, drain, and cool. In large bowl mix pasta, beans, corn, cilantro, tomatoes, and salsa. Toss gently.

In small bowl whisk olive oil, lime juice, taco seasoning, and garlic. Pour over salad and toss to coat. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Chill until serving. Prior to serving toss in the cheese and avocado.

 

I was not hungry so no dinner. Watched TV. Napped in chair! Ahhhhh...... Will make that taco pasta salad in the next couple of days. Just drooling looking at it!

Different Colored Eyes Day

 

Different Colored Eyes Day has two reasons to celebrate.  First of all, it celebrates diversity of eye color. Wouldn't the world be boring, if everyone had the same color of eyes?

 

Secondly, it recognizes an eye condition called Heterochromia. People who have this trait,  have two different colors of eyes. One eye may be brown, while the other is blue.  Famous people who have Heterochromia include David Bowie, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Walken.

 

Your eyes are an important part of your appearance. They are also important in communications. When you look into your lover's eyes, you need to like what you see. Making "eye contact" just wouldn't be the same without different colored eye. Isn't it great that we have a variety of eye colors to set us apart from one another?

 

Eye colors include:

Shades of brown

Shades of blue

Shades of green

Black

Grey

Hazel

 

Celebrate Different Colored Eyes Day by taking particular notice of the eye colors of everyone you see.
