Father's Day ~ Kristen Update ~ Barbara V ~ Summer Solstice

Good 56º cloudy morning. There is a bit of radar to the west, but probably no rain coming our way...

First of all, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

For a short recap of my recent trip to Los Angeles..... Kristen began her chemo treatments the month prior to her ovarian cancer surgery. Here she is when I saw her in March... with her loving pup Lola... who stays by her side constantly.

The chemo/steroid combo reduced her cancer count from 600 down to 122. Her surgery was Friday June 12th. Her doctor predicted a 5 hour surgery but was amazed at less cancer was found than he though and the surgery was only 3 hours. She was at Keck USC Medical Center, by the old General Hospital.... As I have heard from several former patients of this center, it's the BEST in the country!

Kristen went home on Friday the 19th. She is doing well. Lola is still at her side! Here is Lola laying on the pillow with Kristen...

Kris will start radiation the end of July.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers, good wishes, and donations to her cancer fund

All of you have been just amazing and it's so appreciated. THANK YOU!!! ♥♥♥♥

I was gone a week and need to catch up .... Had a GREAT visit with my grand babies (ha! NOT babies anymore!) Alex and Jack. More on that later with pictures...

Today is a special birthday... Barbara Voors... wife of Steve (LASD ret and Jerry's former radio car partner). I was lucky to get to have dinner with them when I was in So.Cal. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!!! xoxo's

That's all for now. Happy to be home with my babies, Dude and Bruiser! They are happy to be home too!!!

Summer Solstice
Summer Solstice is sometimes referred to as "Midsummer" Litha". It's the longest day of the year. The amount of daylight only goes down from here....for the next six months. Summer Solstice is the meteorological start of summer. It's time to enjoy vacations, great weather, pools, baseballs, and everything else that goes along with the favorite season of kids and most adults. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the season, because for many of us it is all too short.
Did you know? The sun does not set at the North Pole today. There is 24 hours of sunlight. Does it make up for that cold day in December when the sun does not rise above the horizon? No, but on this day it sure does feel good wherever you are!

Today is also Peaches and Cream Day~! Mmmmmm....

Thank you for the update. We are very fortunate in LA to have excellent care for cancer patients. May your daughter's recovery be steady and strong.

Glad you got home safely.

So happy you are home safe and sound and to hear that Kristen is doing well. May she continue to recover and do well. I did't know that she had a "Lola" too. Remember you are the one who suggested the name "Lola" for our grandpup which is a Chiweenie. :)

HUGS!!

I think that name is appropriate... since those little pups are classic for "whatever Lola wants, Lola gets"! xo
