Good 48º cloudy morning.
Yesterday was the Boatnik Parade in Grants Pass. I would have liked to go,
but thought it would be better to do stuff here.
Breakfast ... I sauteéd some sliced mushrooms in butter and a drizzle of
olive oil. Added in some of Cliff's smoked pork. Then poured in egg whites
(from a carton). Let that all cook. Dished it up and topped with mozzarella
cheese. A side of Greek yogurt with tomatoes.
...and, sadly, my sister Marion died on
this day in 2004. She had adult onset leukemia. Kristen and I got to visit with
her in the second week of April and about two weeks later she was in the
hospital and on morphine heavily sedated. I miss her so. Here's a picture of me
with my sisters on June 14, 1975.... Betty on the left and Marion on the
right.
We were best friends. She
was 9 years older than me, the baby sister, and she always had to take me along
....

Yesterday three deer were relaxing in the shade up in the upper
pasture....
My neighbor, Gerard, was cutting his pastures... after it's been turned and
dried he will bale it.
When I go into my bathroom I am usually accompanied by Bruiser. This
strange guy LOVES warm water. So I run the water and fill a cup for him....
"Warm water", really? Odd.

My friend
Joan Driscoll who works at my vet's office posted this on her FB page. 9 Beagle
dogs who spent their entire lives in cages in a testing lab run on grass for the
first time. Their day of freedom! (Get out the Kleenex!)
Yesterday afternoon I sat on the porch and ate sunflower seeds and drank
wine. The birds were out...
The clouds never really went away yesterday...
I guess it was nice for the Boatnik parade.
Watching the news last night and Mike Hannan's (former Rogue River Fire Chief) grandson Zac Hannan was on! It was
a shot of him running the hurdles at the state finals in Eugene... He also ran
the 100 and broke his record (10.76) and Grants Pass High School's record and
took third. Third fastest person in the state of Oregon in the 100!!! AND his
school took 1st place in the finals!!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

National Escargot Day (I don't think so, Tim!)
National Escargot Day is celebrated each
year on May 24th. This day is in honor of the famous French dish of cooked land
snails. Escargot is a delicious dish, enjoyed by many, however it is an acquired
taste. It is usually served as an appetizer in French restaurants.
Escargot {es.kar.go} is the French word for
snail.
The dish of Escargot is usually prepared by removing the
land snails from their shells, cooking them with garlic, butter and wine, then
placing them back into their shells, with the sauce, for serving. You are then
provided with a special snail tong and snail fork for your use.
Escargot are high in protein and low in fat (without the
butter).

Yes, Marion was a beautiful lady and oh what a great sister to you. So many older siblings don't want the little one tagging along. I am always wondering why God takes the good ones.
Adorable Beagle. The little Beagle next door is such a cutie but I really would like to strangle him when he howels all night and keeps me awake. Hasn't happened in a while. I think they must take in the three dogs at night now. Drove us nuts, first one then the other.
No thanks to escargot for me either! People on the cruise ships seem to love it in the garlic butter. I'll just take the garlic butter thank you! :)

Your family certainly has good hair.
My first dog was a beagle- named Judy. She was forever getting in trouble and bayed and bayed and bayed. She lost a leg when she took on a car- and that barely slowed her down.
I guess we got my Daddy's hair, certainly Mother's was pretty but very fine. Sad about your Beagle, but sometimes, like some people, nothing slows them down! xo
