Good 34º dark and cold morning with hopes of a sunny
day!
What a beautiful day yesterday was..
The Bruise went out ... and I saw him wayyyyyyy down towards the gate... He
wasn't gone long. I think he goes down there to check out Frank and Cindy's
cat.
While I was taking pictures I was being watched....
Coffee yesterday morning... I love the Torani sugar free
syrups in my coffee (Peanut Butter being the fav) and a little fat free coffee
creamer. So, Irish Cream syrup is GOOD!!
This came from John 'Teddy Bear' Thurman... a 60's quiz.
Fun!!! I aced it!
Not surprising, high school in the 60's, married in the 60's,
and a mom in the 60's!! How about you? This is what they said about my
score:
"There is no doubt you were hip in the 1960’s and still are
today! You just blew the doors off of this quiz by ACING it! Most people get a
couple of the choicest words right, but very few do as well as you just did.
Your performance was really out of sight!"
This will definitely put a smile on your face, and made me laugh out
loud!!! Wacky Walkers on Mel's Video of the Day:
Historically this date.....
1968 – Gold
standard: The U.S.
Congress repeals the
requirement for a gold reserve to back US
currency.
1990 – In the largest art
theft in US
history, 12 paintings, collectively worth around $300 million, are stolen from
the Isabella
Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston,
Massachusetts.
How sad the
case has not been solved nor the art recovered!
2002 – U.S. invasion of Afghanistan: Operation
Anaconda ends
(started on March 2) after killing 500 Taliban and al
Qaeda fighters
with 11 allied troop fatalities.
And births
this date include....
1837 – Grover
Cleveland, 22nd and 24th President of
the United States (d. 1908)
1858 – Rudolf
Diesel, German inventor (d. 1913)
.. Thanks to him we have those horribly noisy smelly trucks that
most men love!
1886 – Edward
Everett Horton, American
actor (d. 1970)
.... Do you think he ever heard a Who?
1926 – Peter
Graves, American actor (d. 2010)
My sister, Marion, knew Peter. He had a house at Tahoe and
her real estate office rented it out for him. He told Marion lots of Hollywood
stories, especially ones about Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, with whom Peter
socialized. The stories were always
whoppers!
1938
– Charley
Pride, American musician
.... love his
voice!
Here are two
of my favorite Charlie Pride songs:
1970 – Queen
Latifah, American singer and actress
Dinner yesterday was the yummy corned beef...
Into the Crock*Pot it went, topped it with brown sugar, and added 1½
bottles of Guinness Stout, turned on high for 4 hours and then low for 4 hours.
This wasn't a big brisquit, only 2¾ pounds.
PERFECT!!!
Then to the Colcannon... I peeled (with my Mom's vintage Ekco Floating
Blade Peeler...I love using things she used.) a couple potatoes and diced the.
Cooked til soft.
Next was chop the leek and cabbage (only used about 1/3 of the cabbage)...
put in frying pan with olive oil and sauté until mostly soft.
Mash the potatoes, add in butter, sour cream, salt and pepper...
Stir potatoes into the cabbage/leeks.
Put in baking dish to heat through.
Wine yesterday was green!
Bruiser got to taste some corned beef, which he loved!
Dinner was GREAT!!!
My friend Trish Bowler posted this on FB... LOVE it..
Interesting, nobody asked me what the "Póg Mo Thóin" on the sweatshirt
meant! I guess everyone speaks Irish Gaelic!
All I know. Happy Hump Day. Nuff said. Ciao.

Oatmeal Cookie Day
It’s Oatmeal Cookie Day! Oatmeal cookies have been around
since the late 1800s. They originated in England, and evolved from the savory
oatcake. In the Middle Ages, soldiers carried oatcakes with them in case they
needed a quick boost of energy during battle. Although our modern-day version is
much sweeter, oatcakes and oatmeal cookies share many of the same ingredients
including spices, nuts, and raisins.
Oats are an excellent source of iron and fiber, which
explains why oatmeal cookies are the healthiest type of cookie! Make a batch
today to celebrate Oatmeal Cookie Day!
My Grandmother, Isabelle Dunbar Mills, made what she called
Cowboy Cookies... oatmeal cookies with raisins. Yummmmy!!!!
If you want to make some AWESOME Oatmeal Cookies, add in
some of Cary's Of Oregon Trail Toffee. It contains toffee bits, almonds,
raisins, and cranberries.
They are located here in Grants Pass. My pal Dee works there
part time. All of their products are the
BEST~!!!!
