Good 49º extremely foggy morning and a little
drizzle...
PICTURE OF THE DAY:
The mountain behind me... changing colors.
Teams with byes this week are Patriots, Chargers, Texans,
Colts, Redskins, and Vikings.
Football today....
Vivia sent me some flower pictures. Don't know what kind
this are but made me laugh. Monkey Flowers!!!
Historically this date...
1620 – Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower sight land at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
1913 – The Great Lakes Storm of
1913, the most
destructive natural disaster ever to hit the lakes, destroys 19 ships and kills
more than 250 people.
1960 – Robert McNamara is named president of Ford Motor Co., the first non-Ford to serve in that
post. A month later, he quit to join the newly-elected John F. Kennedyadministration.
...interesting guy... a Republican, a
Presbyterian, and went to UofCal Berkeley!
And births this date
include....
1914 – Hedy Lamarr, Austrian actress and inventor (d.
2000)
...wow, 6 husbands, 6
divorces.
1936 – Mary Travers, American singer and songwriter
(Peter, Paul and Mary) (d. 2009)
Poor thing, she had
leukemia.
This is the Bruise... for sure!
Had a chat with Jennifer. She and Mike were in Selma. They had just picked
up the "sad puppy" from Song Dog Kennels and Mike ran into the market for a
bottle of wine so they could go home and celebrate. This 9 week old sweetie
"Love Dog" was asleep in Jennifer's lap. Here is the picture of her when she was
3 weeks old... I can't wait to see her!
The sun was setting.... first photo was 4:15pm and the second was 5:15pm..
Later... ate some reruns, watched some TV. I like the show
Elementary..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2191671/
with Johnny Miller and Lucy Liu. The only thing that bugs me is his bloody
English accent which makes it hard to understand his gibberish sometimes. When
he talks fast or in a low voice I can't understand a word! Oh
well...............
All I know. Happy Sunday. Nuff said. Ciao.

November 9th
National Scrapple Day
SCRAPPLE
Scrapple is a breakfast meat product, popularly
served with eggs or pancakes—or even by itself, with maple syrup. The product
was originally developed to make use of pork scraps and trimmings that would
have gone to waste (including the fat, heart, liver and skin). These are
combined with cornmeal, wheat or buckwheat flour and spices into a mush, that is
formed into a loaf. Slices of the scrapple are cut and pan fried. The result is
a breakfast pattie that is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Scrapple
is best known as a regional country food of the mid-Atlantic states,
particularly the Pennsylvania Dutch
region.

I too laugh big time at the monkey flowers. Amazing. I wonder if Lydia has ever come across them.
As you know, scrapple was a favorite of John's and his parents. I have never tasted them but I know you can buy them in the maket now.
Cute puppy.

Monkey orchids are definitely one way nature knows to put a smile on someone's face. There is another class of flowers called Monkey flowers with less distinct features- I have no idea if they are related or not.
Thank you for the happy start to the day.
