Good 47º scattered clouds morning.
Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL!
Hey, today is a very special
birthday... my pal from high school Sandy (Todoran) Beck. She and I became
friends with Sue (Shewalter) in the 9th grade and were the "3 Musketeers"!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY!!! Glad you finally caught up with me! xoxooxo (sure wish
we could find Sue)
Today is also another special
birthday... Bob Klamm. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!
Bob on his "Bear Scoot" in the
Boatnik Parade and with his bride Micol ...
And then there is a dear friend
from back in the '70's and '80's... Terry Polley. Terry was the station mechanic
at Temple and Jerry nicknamed him "Da Pulley". HAPPY BIRTHDAY DA PULLEY!!!
Yesterday was house cleaning day
and laundry. Big whoop! And dinner was a concoction... pasta, zucchini, poblano
chile, tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, pigeon peas,
spinach, and Alfredo sauce.
First I cut up the monster
garlic that was so bitter and topped a couple smaller heads of garlic. Put them
in muffin tin, drizzled on olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper, covered
with foil, and roasted at 400º for 35 minutes. Perfect and not bitter
anymore!
Next I cooked the pasta and
drained and cooled it and chopped tomatoes, zucchini, chili, artichoke hearts,
and garlic and drained the mushrooms and peas...
I heated the pan to a high temp
with olive oil and sauteéd the zucchini til it colored.
Then added in all the rest of
the vegetables..
Then in went the pasta and the half jar of
Alfredo sauce...
Last was the spinach..
OUTSTANDINGLY GOOD!!!!!

National Drink Beer
Day
Beer has been brewed prior to written history. But
ironically, the oldest known recipe set down by man appears to be one for
brewing beer, found on stone tablets in Sumer, in southern Mesopotamia, the
“fertile crescent” or “cradle of civilization” between the Tigris and Euphrates
Rivers that includes modern Iraq, northeastern Syria, southeastern Turkey, and
southwestern Iran.
Beer is the most frequently-consumed beverage in the
world, after water and tea! Some scholars believe that it has been brewed since
the sixth millennium B.C.E. By 4000 B.C.E., the Babylonians were brewing at
least sixteen varieties of beer (when you see all of the different styles in
this glossary, you won’t be surprised at that number). The Pharaohs of Egypt
paid their workers with jugs of beer (later, the Romans would pay their legions
in salt, leaving us with the phrase, “worth his salt” rather than “worth his
beer”). Beer types—ale, pale ale, bock, pilsner, and
lager.
