Rain Radar ~ Football ~ Moon ~ Green Tomato Pickle Recipe ~ Gtano's With The Girls

Good 54º really cloudy and high humidity (48%) morning.

Looks like the rain is coming. They are getting it in the north of me and along the coast...

Last night, Monday Night Football, was quite a game...

Today is a special birthday.... Moon Mullen (LASD ret) is celebrating today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOON!!!!
(Moon and his pretty bride Robyn at the 2014 Laughlin Reunion)

Ok, here's the green tomato pickle recipe...

Put small firm green tomatoes, cut in half  or left whole if real small) in sterilized jars.
Combine:
2 quarts water
1 quart white vinegar
1 cup salt (kosher or canning salt is what I use)

Boil this for 5 minutes. To each jar add 2 T dill seed, 2 red peppers, and 2 cloves garlic. Then add the hot liquid and seal with sterilized lids.

This was my Uncle Lloyd's recipe, but I changed it to suite my tastes. I put jalapeños in (cut in half, seeded) and bunches of peeled and cut or slightly smashed garlic (more flavor).  Make a dirty martini with the juice and spear a couple tomatoes for garnish~!

Yesterday was 'day out with the girls'. We tried a new place in Grants Pass. It's Gtano's. "Nuevo Latin Cuisine" in the shopping center where Blondie's is, across the street from the Laughing Clam. The interior is beautiful...

Here are the 'girls' minus Micol who got there really late, buy the skin of her teeth! L-R Tammy, Jennifer, Hilomi, me, Dee, Sandi, and Nadja.

The menu is awesome. So many choices, hard to choose. The owner, Juan Carlos told me about the Peruvian Margarita and it was spicy. He gave me a mini Margarita to try. OMGOOOOD!!!! So I ordered a full size one! Going back for more!

Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and all want to come back. I had the 'Seafood Chile Relleno' ... Roasted Poblano chile filled with seared tilapia, calamari, and shrimp with mushrooms and peppers covered in a creamy seafood sauce. Served with rice and beans. On the plate was also some melon ... gobble gobble gobble... oink! The rice had corn in it. Soooooooooooooooooooooo good!!!
Juan Carlos said they only use fresh ingredients, nothing canned. We're all going back! They also have a take out menu (Brian!)

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

I just heard it said (and it's actually biblical) that a woman's joy is not complete without girlfriends to share it. I love seeing you sharing joy with such a vast group of ladies, in new places, enjoying great food and drinks, and not just being happy 'for' each other, but 'with' each other, sharing life's joys. Wonderful and thanks for sharing it too.
Although I'm a dark chocolate fan, I know a friend who prefers White Chocolate, so I'll get her some and we can share our joys 'with' each other over some Chocolate. Hugs my friend.

LOL Sue hope you know who "Anonymous" above is as she/he didn't sign the comment.

I tried a spicy Margarita at Pomona Valley Mining and I really liked it.
That place is darling and it sounded like you all really enjoyed it. Love trying new places.

I am not a fan of dark chocolate but LOVE white. Yum yum!

Happy Birthday Moon!

Is this place new? I know Blondie's but remember Gary and I having lunch at another resurant that was really good in that center. Looks very good and that margarita sounds exotic!
Thanks for the weather update too my friend. TV never as good as you!

Joan, the restaurant has been there a few months. It's in the place where the Mediterranean used to be. You must try it. xoxo P.S. You and the owner have the same insurance man!!! LOL.
