Good 46º morning. A few clouds drifted down and it looked
semi-foggy for a few..
Now the sun is out and it's warming up...
Historically
1789 – The United States Department of
War first establishes a regular army with a strength of several hundred
men.
1966 – The Chevrolet Camaro, originally named Panther, is
introduced.
2008 – Following the bankruptcies of Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual, The Dow Jones Industrial
Average falls 777.68 points, the largest single-day
point loss in its history.
And births this date
include....
1904 – Greer Garson, British actress (d.
1996)
She must have shied away from public as
there are no pictures of her older.
1907 – Gene Autry, American actor, singer, and
businessman (d. 1998)
1924 – Steve Forrest, American actor (d.2013)
1931 – Anita Ekberg, Swedish actress

On December 12th 1957, at age
twenty-two, Jerry Lee secretly married for the third time; wedding his second
cousin, thirteen-year old Myra Brown, the sister of his bass player, J.W. Brown.
Though it was not an uncommon practice in the south for cousins to marry, it was
considered somewhat unorthodox by much of the rest of the world. While there
were no immediate repercussions in response to his marriage, the action would
soon come to haunt him.
1942 – Madeline Kahn, American actress (d.

Yesterday was a busy one. Got up, made tea, turned on computer
and there was a note from Brian that they were going to Taprock for brunch and
wanted me to join them. 9:30!! YIKES. RUN......................................
So, managed to get blog done and shower and dressed and made it! Before I left
here I was backing out and the Bruise was acting like he wanted to go with me!
He jumped up on the fence and looked at me like, "How come
you're not takin' me?" LOL.
Actually the other day I pulled in, got out of my truck to
check a ground squirrel trap, and along came Bruiser. I picked him up and put
him in the car and headed to the carport. He was so interested, being in a
vehicle and not being in a cat cage! He stood up on the dash looking out the
window. I think he thinks it would be fun to do this more often.
Brian's friend Chris was here visiting from Cal. He is a
flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. Of course Taprock right on the river is
the place to bring visitors. Saturday they had made the trip to Crater Lake to
show Chris where the Rogue River starts. If he had been able to stay longer they
probably would have taken him to the coast to see where the river ends! Sadly he
had to go back home yesterday. Chris is just a short guy, NOT! Wonder how he
fits through those doors on the planes! Here is with one of SW
pilots...
Tucker and Sami just love Chris. What's not to, I do
too!
We had the buffet...
OMG, oink oink oink!! Turkey wrap, melon, cheese cubes, bacon,
scrambled eggs with gravy, egg benedict, blintzes with strawberries, waffle and
berries with whipped cream, and baklava! I will never eat again! Topped that
with a mimosa.
Brian, Jen, Chris, and the kids headed to Fort Vannoy Farm to get some
pumpkins. http://fortvannoyfarms.com/
I came home
and got ready to leave again to Bob and Micol's for Bob's birthday soireé. It
was great. Beer and wine and later pizzas were delivered and Micol made a bunch
of different salads. Unfortunately I was still too full to eat! They live up on
top of a hill overlooking Grants Pass. You can see the I-5 from up
there...
They have these two furry cats who are so
cute... look like twins...
Their house is really neat and so is their yard...
Micol had this neat cake for Bob with his picture on it..
Happy Birthday Bob!!! Fun party! Several of his friends retired law enforcement and we had some great conversations. One a Ventura Co deputy and another a DA Investigator from LA.

Thanks for telling us the blog would be late. That way we don't worry about you. :)
Wow! Chris is tall! When John III applied and went to a big interview in Phoenix we believe he wasn't hired because he was too tall at 6'5". How tall is Chris? Do you know?
Love the Southwest pilots. Once while waiting to board I was dressed in my r/w/b as Edda and I were returning from a convention. The pilot walked by with his Americana tie on. I gave him a thumbs up. When we were airborne we were so surprised when the attendant told us "the pilot is buying your drinks!" (Wine). WOW! We found him later and thanked him. He had gotten off and went to the next gate to say hello to his flight attendant wife in the next plane. :)
We also have family members who work for them. Hubby and wife.
Your brunch looked oh soooo yummy and filling. Was that Jen's mom at the buffet?
XO Trisha
Hi T, that's a great story about your Southwest pilot! I don't know exactly how tall Chris is...I'll have to ask him. He's seems to be as tall as my nephew, who is 6'7". And yes, that's Jean at the buffet. xoxo
