Good 60º morning. Cloudy.... supposed to be cooler today.
We'll see. Can't believe anything those weather peeps tell us!
TBT..... LOL, 1974. Brian got new shoes...so he took them to
bed with him! Happy camper!!! ♥ This picture ALWAYS makes me smile!
Historically
1941 – Holocaust: under instructions from Adolf Hitler, Nazi official Hermann Göring, orders SS General Reinhard Heydrich to "submit to me as soon as possible a
general plan of the administrative material and financial measures necessary for
carrying out the desired final solution of the Jewish question."
..........there are just no words to describe what sick monsters these people were, Hitler in particular.
2007 – Operation Banner, the presence of the British Army in Northern Ireland, and the longest-running British Army
operation ever, comes to an end.
And births this date
include....
1929 – Don Murray, American actor
1932 – Ted Cassidy, American actor (d. 1979)
1939 – France Nuyen, French actress
1965 – J. K. Rowling, British writer
And then........ Jeannie told me about this cucumber salad she
made. I was drooling. The dressing:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 t. salt
4 cups sliced cucumbers
Mix all together and refrigerate.
You know me.... had to alter this recipe. First of all I didn't have any
cucumbers, so the substituting started... I made the dressing using Best Foods
mayo, white honey balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt, and I added in about 1/2 t. of
the Trinidad Lemon Garlic seasoning. ( www.thespicehouse.com/spices/trinidad-style-lemon-garlic-marinade-seasoning
) (GAWD, how I love garlic and lemon!) and used sea salt. I like the coarse
Baleine sea salt. I get it at the market, but it can also be purchased at
Amazon.com or the spice house.
There are two kinds, this the
coarse one or fine.
Ok, dressing all whisked together. Then I cut up some of the stir-fry
veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots) Put them in a pan with a little
water and olive oil and steamed them until partially tender. Drained and cooled
in colander...
I diced up three large tomatoes and chopped up some of that awesome
crock-pot chicken (blog 7-29), put in bowl. When veggies were cool they went in
too..
Tossed it all with the dressing and refrigerated it for an hour or so.
Chopped up lettuce and topped that with the salad mixture and some shredded
mozzarella cheese. OMGOOOOOOOD!!!
What a great dinner for a hot sultry night. Mmmmm.... leftovers for
tonight!!!
Yesterday was haircut day with Leah. Then the down comforter went to the
cleaners to ready it for winter (oh please hurry up winter!!!). Stopped in and
said "hi" to Brian and Emily. Then to see Turk and take him my old computer. He
renovates them for "po folks" whose kids need them and they can't afford them!
Good guy!!!! Then to the Elk's to meet up with Bill and Jeannie. Lots of changes
taking place there. Our fav bartendress Billi has left. Darn. New one, Zee, is
from Alaska. Nice gal. We miss you Billi!!!!!!
Then home, dinner, my chair, TV. At 7:30 after being told we would get a
lightening/thunder storm, we got one clap of thunder. Then at 8pm the rain
started. It lasted a whole minute!
PICTURE OF THE DAY (Thanks, from Patty!)
All I know. Happy TBT. Nuff said. Ciao.

Mutt's Day
I love my mutt, Dude... a lab/Rottweiler. My Lucy was German
Shepherd/Collie. Kind loving gentle dogs!
It's Mutt's Day. Mutts deserve their day
in the spotlight, as much as a pure breed. If you own a mutt, or you are a mutt
(reading this), then you know this day is for you.
By
definition a mutt, sometimes called a "Half-breed", is a dog that is of mixed
breed. They come from two to several breeds. Purebred owners, and sometimes the
public in general, view them as lesser in many ways. Mutt owners know better.
They value the diversity and uniqueness of their mutts. Sure, a mutt doesn't
carry the expensive price tag that a purebred with papers has on its head. To
the mutt owner, however, the mutt is invaluable. In addition, mutts don't walk
around needing to prove anything. You won't see them strutting around any dog
shows trying to prove they are the best.
To
all mutts and and mutt owners, we hope you thoroughly enjoy Mutt's Day. Spend the day relaxing
and doing all the things you and your dog like to do. Do so with both of your
chins held high. For your mutt is worth a million
bucks!
