Good 43º cloudy morning.
Hummingbirds were out in force this morning...
Yesterday I did a few errands... post office to mail DVD's of Alex's
graduation to her then to Safeway for dog food/cat food/veggies.
I called the trash company and the gal at the desk said she'd have their
pickup/delivery guy put a new trash can out by the driveway for me. Don't know
if they did it yet or not... my smashed trash can was waiting for them...
Speaking of cars on our road... our neighbor across the road is, and I'm
not going to say elderly as I'm close to his age, but he's older ... he was out
getting his mail (his mailbox is next to ours on this side of the road) and he
fell down. Two cars went by and neither of them stopped to see if he needed
help. Imagine! A third vehicle stopped and helped him back across the street.
IDIOTS! Now his mailbox is gone and he drives to town to the post office to pick
his up.
Some of my
friends are celebrating today... Erika and Spencer, down in La Crescenta Ca, are
celebrating their 53rd anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Since yesterday was National Veggies Day I went along with the program... I
got out the rice cooker and in went Rice A Roni and the flavor packet, chicken
stock instead of water, chopped cooked peeled beet, artichoke quarters, can of
corn, pimentos, chopped tomato, chopped shallot, 3 grated garlic cloves, and
sugar snap peas.
I dished it up onto a plate of fresh baby spinach. AWESOME~!
Some TV, a nap in my chair. Over the top excitement to end another day.
All I know. Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.

June 17th
National Corn Fritters Day
Here are some that are fried flat like pancakes...
You could also spray your waffle iron with Pam and cook them that way
too.... avoid the fat/oil.
There was a restaurant in Monrovia (I think) where I'd go with my parents
when I was very young and they served corn fritters with syrup. OMGOOOOOD!!!
Wish I could remember the name... I think it was up on one of the canyon
roads...or maybe in Arcadia. or Glendora. Darn.

YUM! The only way I have ever had corn fritters is with syrup. I was introduced to them at Parnell. We girls loved those and that was our favorite lunch!
I have made them once for my boys but i don't have a deep fryer. Must have just plopped them in a skillet full of oil!
Happy Birthday Newt!!

I haven't made fritters in forever- Thank YOU for the suggestion. Had not thought of the waffle iron...Or ebelsviker popovers? Decisions. Decisions.
