Good 29º that would be 3º colder than yesterday burrrr
frozen morning!
The sun did come out yesterday and it warmed to the
60º's. Nice. Hope things dry out a bit more today so I can get some yard work
done.
BTW, Sami is better. Her mom sat and watched movies (Frozen and UP) with her yesterday and her tummy is back to normal now. Thanks to those of you with your concern and good wishes. xo
PICTURE of the day...
ducklings first flight leaving the nest...
Got this from Dave Clark (LASD ret) .. historical photos that
have been colorized. Really interesting. A couple very graphic.
I hate "catch up" days. So many things I want to do, not enough time or
energy. Sigh.... did get a few things done before I cut my finger! Found a few
photos.... Here is one taken back in 1986 when Jerry and I were on Catalina at
the Avalon Range for the quarterly handgun qualify... fun times!
Today on this date in 1983 my friends Brenda and Robert Flores got married.

So, I was making my lunch, cutting up some celery and BAM!
Cut my finger BAD!!! OUCH MOTHER FATHER!!!
I filled a cup with peroxide and soaked it .. natch it
overflowed ... then managed to get three band-aids wrapped tight around the cut.
Not easy to open a band-aid with your mouth! Sigh....
Ya know...... and it's not even a full moon! Sh*t it looks
like someone lost an arm or ..... !
Thank goodness for Ibuprofen 800 mg!! Better today!
Lunch, finally, was good. I had the leftover
celery/asparagus/kale/mushroom mixture I had sauteéd and added more celery and
heated it with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. Topped that with
red beans/rice/and chicken sausage... diet size.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy

March 12th
Girl Scout Day
On
March 12, 1912 Juliette Gordon Low started the first Girl Scout group in
Savannah Georgia with 18 girls. The Girls Scouts became a national organization,
and was was chartered by the U.S. Congress on March 16, 1950. Today, there are
millions of girls involved with Girl Scouts.
And....
today is also National Baked Scallops Day
Here is my scallop dish... favorite big time...
Olive oil
1 shallot, chopped
2 (14oz) cans quartered artichoke hearts in water,
drained
salt pepper
1/4 cup parsley leaves, chopped
1 T capers, drained
1/3 cup lemon juice
3-4 pats butter
Heat large non-stick pan with olive oil. Add the shallot and
cook one minute or so. Add artichoke hearts and toss to heat through. Season
with salt and pepper and combine with parsley and capers. Transfer to serving
dish.
Whip out pan and return to heat, raising heat to med high.
Season drained scallops with salt and pepper. Add one turn of olive oil to pan
and immediately place scallops in pan. Sear scallops in a single layer, causing
them to caramelize. 2 minutes on each side. Add lemon juice and butter to the
pan and cook 1-2 minutes Arrange over top of artichoke mixture and
serve.
You could also cook some fettuccini, drain, and keep warm
with the artichoke/caper mixture and then top that with the
scallops!

OUCH!!!I had to whizzzz past all the blood. I have been known to faint or get light headed at the sight of a cut like that and blood.
That has to be awful when no one is there to help. Looks like you did a fine job of fixing it up tho.
I love seeing old photos of you and Jerry. You were so cute and oh so young. Well, weren't we all back then!
Guess I've told you that John used to work Catalina for two weeks each summer during his 10 yrs at SEB. What fun that was!
mmmm Your scallop dish looks so yummy but alas, I don't think it's a diet one. :(
XO Trisha
